So what are your foreign policy credentials?
I stayed at a youth hostel in Amsterdam's red light district, where I also went to needle park and the Van Gogh Museum, so I should be Ambassador to the Netherlands. I have also planted tulips.

13. My friend, I've told the brazilian joke a brazillion times, so I'll be
the Ambassador to Brazil.

Donald Rumsfeld is giving the president his daily briefing. He concludes by saying: "Yesterday, 3 Brazilian soldiers were killed."

"OH NO!" the President exclaims. "That's terrible!"

His staff sits stunned at this display of emotion, nervously watching as the President sits, head in hands.

Finally, the President looks up and asks, "How many is a brazillion?"

29. I'm a foreign language buff, have had a passport since 1967, have lived in
Japan, and have been back there 12 times since.

I am OVER-QUALIFIED to be ambassador to Japan, although if I had joined the Foreign Service (as I seriously tried to in the late 1970s), they probably would have sent me to Uruguay or Mauritania, judging from the fact that my interviewer, who had a degree in Latin American Studies and spoke Spanish and Portuguese had, at that point, been posted to Vietnam and the Congo.

41. I have a Brazilian qualifications
I own copies of Michael Moore's 'Dude, Where's My Country,' a couple Harry Potter books, and the entire Lord of the Rings trilogy in Portuguese.

I too have stayed in a youth hostel in the red light district of Amsterdam. Met someone a year or two later who'd been there just a week after us, and she said a junkie died in the bathroom during the night. The cops carried the body bag out right past everybody having breakfast.

I've eaten haggis.

I've seen Kabul from the air.

I've lived with a half-Canadian whose father looks a lot like Gordon Lightfoot.

I pressured a friend to make out with the James Joyce statue in Dublin for a photo op.

I've watched Japanese tentacle porn.

I have a Seven African Powers candle.

I've ridden an elephant.

I make a mean guacamole.

I can use chopsticks.
