Gus Frerotte is once again a starting quarterback in the NFL.
http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=3593304

The Minnesota Vikings, with an 0-2 start to the season, are turning to veteran Gus Frerotte to bring them out of the hole.

No coach had more faith in his quarterback than coach Brad Childress had in Tarvaris Jackson, who has made 14 career starts. But Childress named Frerotte the starter for the remainder of the season, announcing the decision at his Wednesday media availability.

snip

Frerotte has been with seven teams, but this is his second tour with the Vikings, having spent 2003 and 2004 in Minnesota.

Frerotte has completed 54.2 percent of his passes during his career for 19,134 yards and a 74.3 quarterback rating. He's 37-44-1 as a starter.

--------------

That should help. The Packers, anyway.

2. I was just thinking about that
Wondering "Wasn't that the guy who deliberately rammed his head into the wall?"

5. How old is he?
Damn, he'll be the French version of Vinny Testaverde. I remember the head banging while he was a Redskin.

7. 37. He only seems older because he's been washed up for so long.
Or maybe because he was a has-been at a very young age.

Damn, how mus Tarvaris Jackson feel, to be replaced by a man people were laughing at before he was in high school?

6. I remember when he was with Washington, his nickname was "Gus Forgot"
as in, "Gus forgot (how to throw the ball, how to avoid the sack, etc.)"

8. What is it with Minnesota and QBs?
They can't ever seem to get a good one. Brad Johnson was good but they traded him. Daunte Culpepper was very good but they got rid of him. (I know it was probably because of that boat thing but still). They had Randall Cunningham, Jim McMahon, and that guy who was with the Oilers originally (I am drawing a blank on his name). But none of them stayed for long. 2-3 years. What they need is someone (good) who will stick around.

9. Warren Moon. One of the best ever.
Best pure passer I've seen. Top five QBs ever, I think. He was older by the time he got to the Vikings, though, and not as sucessful.

10. Remember a guy named Fran Tarkenton?

It's been downhill ever since. :-(

Culpepper was an awesome quarterback when he was a threat to run. God I LOVED seeing him literally run over smaller cornerbacks! He totally gave them and linebackers fits! Then, suddenly, he thought himself a pocket passer. Yeeeouch. Hello, obscurity.
