True Blood on HBO. Anyone else totally hooked?
I love it! :bounce:

Thanks to a Japanese scientist's invention of synthetic blood, vampires have progressed from legendary monsters to fellow citizens overnight. And while humans have been safely removed from the menu, many remain apprehensive about these creatures "coming out of the coffin." Religious leaders and government officials around the world have chosen their sides, but in the small Louisiana town of Bon Temps, the jury is still out.

Local waitress Sookie Stackhouse (Anna Paquin), however, knows how it feels to be an outcast. "Cursed" with the ability to listen in on people's thoughts, she's also open-minded about the integration of vampires — particularly when it comes to Bill Compton (Stephen Moyer), a handsome 173-year-old living up the road. But as Sookie is drawn into a series of mysteries surrounding Bill's arrival in Bon Temps, that tolerance will be put to the test.

A sexy, scary new drama from 'Six Feet Under' creator Alan Ball, 'True Blood' delves into the meticulously-crafted world of novelist Charlaine Harris. Described by the Emmy®-winning Ball as "popcorn for smart people" and featuring a colorful cast of local misfits, 'True Blood' promises an intense ride.

1. I've been watching it, giving it a few more chances, BUT...
They're using horrendously bad stereotypes and flat-out awful attempts at southern accents. I wish the characters were a little more authentic.

9. The campiness and over-the-top flavor
Is a part of the books.

2. I love what I've seen so far
Especially in regards to vampires being out in the open - too many books, movies, etc with vampires have them as a secret subsect of the population that nobody knows about, and having them as a part of human society, dealing with prejudice and the like, feels like a very original twist. To me, at least.

What I would like, is to see more of that blonde woman, the spokesvamp of the American Vampire League. I love the idea of a vampire advocacy/lobbying group, and her appearance on Bill Maher in the series opener was great, however brief.

3. I like the "twists" and I like the main characters quite a bit.
I like Sookie and Tara and Lafayette. I'm excited to see where they take it. I was a big fan of Six Feet Under so I expect good things from Alan Ball.

4. Have you seen BloodCopy?
The viral marketing they used for the show before it premiered? I was hooked from the get go with that - it's also where I developed the fondness I have for the AVL spokesvampire. The picture of her meeting with Hilary was a stroke of brilliance :D

The other characters are great too, of course, especially Tara and Sookie. I just can't seem to shake this fondness for the blonde woman who's name i can't remember :P

7. You should eb able to find all the little "episodes"
They should still be up at BloodCopy.com

I first heard of it when they showed a "commercial" for Tru Blood after an episode of something or other. Hehehe "This Blood's for you, buddy!"

6. I'm trying. I really am.
But so far I think it's just been awful.

I think I might enjoy it more if it were set in a different location.

8. It's interesting. Better than I thought.
I'm not obsessed like I was for "The Wire" or "The Sopranos", but much like "Big Love" I'll tune in to follow it when it's on.
