Jon Anderson no longer a member of Yes? Looks like that might be the case.
I got an e-mail on a Kevin Gilbert discussion list with a link to this YouTube video:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c3BFuxBayxg

It appears as though the lead singer of this Yes tribute band will be the new lead vocalist for a Yes tour this coming fall/winter, and possibly into 2009. Oliver Wakeman (Rick's eldest son) will be on keyboards as he was to be for the cancelled summer tour.

I've read an article or two (clearly compiled and written by somebody with a LOT of free time), and it looks as though Jon Anderson may no longer be a member of Yes. The replacement is quite an amazing simulation, for the most part. (The high note in the "I Get Up I Get Down" section of the above video needs a little work, but I'll never be able to sing like that, so who am I to complain?)

2. Heck--you might as well take the "Y" out of "Yes," while you're at it

3. All this stemming from his illness?
They canceled last summer due to JA's respiratory infection or failure or something, right? Sad if it's that, i.e. not simply his choice that it was to be over....

4. I'm sorry to point this out, but could any news story be LESS important? So, a guy who
always sang like he had a strangulated hernia, for a band that could NOT be less boring, but got lucky because they happened to put out their "hits" when everyone was stoned all the time, and therefore unable to tell the difference between music and noise, quits a band that's been utterly irrevelant for over thirty years, and that's NEWS?

Yes, you're right, whoever noticed this do indeed have WAY too much time on his or her hands.

9. well, it sounds like *someone* never bothered getting stoned and
sitting back to enjoy the complex and amazing musical compositions and awesome lyrics of this band.

7. The loss of Anderson gets the remaining band pretty close to "tribute" status.
Probably the only fact that keeps them from being so is that they've had so many different band members over the years. As long as Howe, Squire, and White remain, I suppose they're still Yes though.

8. This trend is getting distrurbing.
Judas Priest did it first (though they have since gone back to their real singer). Journey is now on their second tribute band singer. Boston "replaced" the late Brad Delp with some guy they found on myspace.com (No, I'm serious!)

Now Yes too? Yes with a fake Jon Anderson?

What blasphemy will come next?

10. Why is it that the best blues, R&B and rock and roll stars die young and prog rockers

last for fucking ever and when they do retire
the band brand continues on like some oozing
pestilent zombie?

Oops, did I say Zombies?
