I saw Ralph Stanley and the Clinch Mountain Boys last night
It was great! Ralph Stanley is quite a guy, 81 and still going. He sang an a capella 'Oh Death' which was awesome. It was also cool to hear him sing 'Rank Strangers' with his grandson Nathan. I bought a couple CDs and they were signed by Ralph himself who signed everything before and after the show (as well as other members). I can't remember the opening groups name but they were fairly young. They were good but they played 'Will the circle be unbroken' a little too fast, almost upbeat, when it's a sad song.

They are going to be in Frederick MD in November (closer to me than yesterday), I'm going to try to see them again. :)

3. Not Seldom Scene, was it?
I can't think of any other bluegrass groups off the top of my head, except Union Station, and that would be more like a double bill than one opening for the other.

4. Nope
These were early college age kids. The Seldom Scene used to play at my high school though. :)

6. As a former bluegrass musician, please allow me to tell you this: Cherish that experience;
there are plenty of young musicians who are keeping the Bluegrass flame alive (thank God), but you're fortunate to be able to see some of the genuine founders of a genre of music while they're still alive and performing.

But you knew that without me having to tell you, didn't you? Fans like you will keep that music alive for generations to come.
