Ebay Sucks!
I buy 90% of the time on ebay and sell the other 10%. I am really pised off. I sold an item over a month ago. Buyer paid fast. I sent it off and the buyer left positive feedback for me as I did the same for them. End of transaction.

Fast forward 34 days later. They sent me an email saying the item is not new as the auction said it was. Said it was damaged, chipped, and on and on.Item was not. I opened the item to inspect it only and I described that in the auction. Wants me to give them a full refund or they will file a dispute. I even insured the item at my own expense.

I sent them an email and was as professional as I could be. I apologized but said the item they described was not the item I sold. I went on about how I wish they would have informed me sooner if they were not happy. Because I insured it, had they informed me earlier we both would have been covered.I was as pleasant as I could be but made it clear I would not give them a refund.

I spoke to someone on the ebay forums and they said they can file within 45 days and I would be forced to refund them ONLY if they send the item back to me.So, now they are going to send me back an item that is damaged and I will not be able to resell it. I am out the item and the nearly hundred bucks I got for it.

Seems like ebay buyers have no rights at all and have to tolerate this conduct from buyers. Anyone else have problems like this?

1. Did you use PayPal?
I've had adventures like yours, and PayPal always found in my favor. Some buyers are just nuts. But never did I have eBay get involved.

Good luck. There are some real whackjobs out there.

2. Yeah
They paid on the 30th of July with Paypal and left positive feedback for me on the 7th of August.

3. Then eBay will toss it back to PayPal
My guess is that this is just a lot of bluster, and nothing will come of it.

Idiots abound. I'm sorry this happened to you, but there's no protection from these dicks.

6. I had a MAJOR problem with eBay/PayPal
Edited on Sat Sep-06-08 08:17 PM by mvd
I sold an item on eBay, a rare Star Wars Eternia, to someone in Germany. Item was in good shape when shipped, even in a special box he wanted. Told him that international shipping has risks because of the distance the package goes, and he still agreed. About a month later he files a "did not receive" dispute, and we worked with him on that. Then he gets the item and changes the reason for the dispute, saying the item was damaged. Because the stupid PayPal people didn't read the German, they kept finding in his favor. After I kept bugging them, they suggested that he get a refund but have to send the item back at his expense. After that, he just kept the item and dropped the dispute.

Sellers don't have many rights. So maybe wheel and deal and call his bluff?

8. Uh, you play the game, you take the chances, as they used to say.
You want to sell or buy stuff on Ebay or any other Internet site (OR in the real world), it's never going to be a perfect process every time. Just like the rest of the world isn't perfect.

Pull up your socks and get on with it, OK? There are, I'd guess, about 100,000 places on the Web to bitch about Ebay. Why not post your problem in one of those places?
