NASCAR's long awaited return of an African American driver in one of it's top national series is set to happen this saturday. As 18yr old Marc Davis competes in the Craftsman Truck series driving an entry from Randy Moss Motorsports.
comcast.net/articles/sports-motorsports/20080904/Auto.Racing.BriefsI have read press clippings about this kid for over a year now. They had to wait for him to turn 18 before he could be moved up into this series. The marketing people have been looking to field an African American driver who could perform in the top of the sport for many years now. And they may have found a gentleman who fills all their requirements.
Interestingly enough I believe Marc will still be eligible to compete for Rookie of the Year in the truck series next year against fellow rookie Chrissy Wallace. Could make for alot of new fans in a series who will have a new major sponsor next year. (Craftsman is leaving the series as the major sponsor.)
