To whomever returned the USED weatherstripping to the hardware store:

You are lower than whale shit, you cheap bastard, and I hope that whatever you were trying to seal leaked like a sieve.

So I went to the hardware store to get some new weatherstripping for my storm door. It comes in a 16-foot continuous roll and, when I take it out of the package, I notice that it has been cut into pieces. As I remove some of the adhesive backing, I notice the adhesive covered with paint chips and little wood bits. Someone:

Bought the weatherstripping
Cut it into pieces and installed it
Removed the weatherstripping, carefully "pieced" it back together, reinstalled the peel-off backing for the adhesive, and returned it to the store.

The twist of lime to my story - the weatherstripping costs $2.99 per package.

1. Did you notice it in the store? Or after you got home?
And did you return the used product to the store?

Some people though, make Jack Benny look like a big spender.

3. Home. And return it I did. Then the clerk and I went to aisle with the weatherstripping,
and it was even worse. Over half of the packs had been opened, and many had missing chunks of 'strip. Yes. Somebody thinks, "Hell, I only need three feet of weatherstripping, why pay for 16 feet? I'll just steal, I mean, 'take' some from this package."

Hope the leak doesn't seal and it's over a joist, you fucktards.

2. So, basically, some redneck rightwing republican pile of human garbage spent a couple hours
of labor in order to "git his two niney-nine" back?

12. I don't think it was you
That's something only a crooked, corrupt bastard would do.

Sarah Palin would return used weatherstripping. You're not her.

5. Welcome to the hardware business. How do you think I felt all the time?
The funniest one I ever saw was the asshole who got his door kicked in--Fayetteville is the door-kicking capital of the world. He wasn't an asshole because he got his door kicked in, but because he came to the store, bought a new door, took the parts he needed (the lock-side leg of the frame and the doorslab with its hinges) off the new door, changed out the broken parts, put the broken parts back into the remnants of the new frame, then attempted to return the reassembled door. Better: he tried to tell me that's how he got it. "Sir, when you get them they're not green on one side."

In second place: You've seen wooden gable vents, the kind that are triangular in shape and about five to six feet long. Someone came in with one--with the nails still sticking out of it and the paint still on it--and told me he bought it at "this store" fifteen years ago. (Incidentally, this is an item the store I worked in never carried.)
"Sir, I know you didn't buy that at this store fifteen years ago."
(Customer gets ultra pissed...) 'AND WHY NOT?'
"Because this was an empty field fifteen years ago; the store's only twelve years old, and this is the only Home Depot that's ever been in Fayetteville."
(Really meek now) 'Oh...sorry...'

And for the bronze...Someone built a deck from my lumber, which was No. 2 pressure-treated southern yellow pine. I had good prices on my No. 2 southern yellow pine. He found a better price on No. 3 southern yellow pine, a lesser grade. He came back to the store with the quote sheet from the dealer and demanded we match the price. We, of course, would not--we didn't price match on worse product, and we didn't price-match after you bought the stuff anyway. So he went home, tore his whole deck down with a crowbar (breaking a lot of the boards in the process), brought it back to the store and demanded a refund. We didn't give him one.

Stupid Republicans and their entitlement complexes.

8. Now here's the champeen of Republican entitlement
I was selling eight-foor 2x4s for something like $2.75 and making three cents per stick. A customer, who I assume was a Republican, told me he'd buy a bunk of them (293 boards) if I would give him a discount. See, he NEVER bought anything unless the store gave him a discount. I wasn't allowed to do it, so sadly that order walked out the door.

About a week later the same man was in the store.

"Did you ever get your lumber?"

'Yes. I found a lumberyard that would give me a discount, so I bought what I needed from them."

"May I ask what you paid for them?"

"Two dollars and eighty-seven cents per board."

Yes, you read that right: he happily paid twelve cents per board MORE than I was going to charge him because they gave him a "discount." I didn't say a word.

13. My sister worked Home Depots return desk until she just
couldn't take it anymore. They stopped selling Christmas trees (the cut version) because people returned them the week after Christmas
because they were dead. They did refund the money. My sister wanted to scream: it was DEAD when you bought it. People also returned
tree lights the week after, etc.

14. I worked for the Army PX for a bit after I got out
over in Germany. Had a guy walk in with boxes of electronic stuff hairdryer, radio, small TV; you name it. Wanted to return it all and said he was going back to the States and didn't need it anymore.

Not returns but equally funny. Guy asks me if we have camo paint to touch up a tank. I show him the section with all the subdued paints and ask him what colors he wants. The guy actually gets mad at me and insists that you can by a single can of paint that will spray a camo pattern. I was trying to figure out how to politely ask him how the can knows what color to spray.

Another guy comes up to the counter and needs a 1000amp fuse for his stereo. Now I figure he just misspoke and ask him what stereo he has, look up the right fuse, reach in the drawer and get him a 1000milliamp fuse. He actually looks at the package and then starts yelling at me for giving him the wrong size. Says he read the manual and the stereo takes a 1000amp fuse. I just looked at him and asked "what are you plugging directly into the nuclear power plant?"

16. Two questions: 1) You didn't notice that the package had been opened? And...
2) What's your time worth? Must be a LOT less than mine is worth, given that you'd go to all that trouble over three fucking bucks. You REALLY "removed the weatherstripping, carefully "pieced" it back together, reinstalled the peel-off backing for the adhesive, and returned it to the store?"

For three bucks?
