2. "Buddy" for a male and "Rosie" for a female

Simplicity is best when naming critters.

Actually, I think 2-syllable one word names work best.
I don't know where you live but sometimes naming them after local sports heros help. When I lived in Seattle, there were a lot little kitties named Ichiro. Some people can really relate to that.
Other ideas: if they're black and white kittens, name them Orca, Panda, Shamu, Holstein, etc.
If they look like Siamese kitties, name them Thai, China, etc.
