1. who was the first?
I sold my copy to a used CD store. Same as New Adventures in Hi-Fi. Wonderful title, awful CD.

4. That would be me
Sorry, I thought this was implied. The record was critically reviled and nearly all REM fans concurred. I thought the boys were having fun making loud noises and always got a kick out of the record. Admittedly I haven't played it all that frequently in recent years, but still like it. Then again, I'm militantly low-brow.

2. I had "Monster"!
Loved it then lost it.

Loader than they normally get but still great songs.

3. I saw that
And I liked "monster." It was a little late, but come on, "What's the Frequency, Kenneth?" is a great song.

6. "Bang and Blame" was good, too.
And I didn't really care for "New Adventures", but "Electrolyte" is a great song.

7. Difficult record
Electrolyte was good. However, that's where REM and I departed. I didn't like up. I didn't like reveal.

20. Love "Electrolite" and I thought "New Adventures" was their Sgt. Pepper
And "Up" was their White Album.

"Monster" is the first CD I ever bought. I'm slow to catch on in electronics revolutions because I hate re-buying all the stuff I already have. I still don't have a DVD player.

R.E.M. is the only group I buy the brand-new CD of right away on the first day of release. And I liked the R.E.M.IXers of "Reveal" better than I liked the original album. Their homage to the Beach Boys on "Up" and "Reveal" went on too long for me. "Up" is brilliant brilliant brilliant and along with "Murmur" and "Fables" rarely leaves my CD player.

9. Hey, Fred Schneider had his own song, titled "Monster" too!
Even MTV refused to air the video because of a silly green colored animation within... :eyes:

How do you get a post deleted from a f*cking music thread?!? That's the first one of the "deleted messages" I've really actually wished I could read.

21. It was actually pretty funny
and wasn't directed at anyone. It was clearly a joke, like my uncle saying, "I hate pumpkin pie and anyone who eats it!"

Besides, he likes Monster.

I have been listening to Document again recently. I think Automatic for the people is one of their greatest "modern" releases.
