In fact I worked with a very conservative born again type who, when her daughter became pregnant out of wedlock, was all for the kids not being married until welfare could pay for the prenatal and delivery. People can be very two faced when it comes down to the dollar. The other thing I'd love statistics on is how many rich families quietly get their daughters or wives an abortion when a pregnancy would cause embarrassment or inconvenience. I think that because they can afford to do it, it happens a lot more than we will ever know.

When people tell me that I should apply for food stamps, WIC, or state health insurance especially once I have the baby. I haven't checked to see if we would qualify for those programs, but I have to admit that I feel a little offended when people assume that we would and should apply if we do.
