6. I am now 57 and loved Finding Nemo and other Disney movies.
The voices, knowing who they are in real life, and the charm of the stories.
Having a parrot as a pet, the gulls cracked me up saying, "mine, mine, mine, mine".

I am also a big fan of Spongebob, Family Guy and the Simpsons.

I was introduced to muppet-like characters in the 50's with the Wilkins Coffee commercials. I just had to do a Google check on it to see if they were Henson characters, and they were. I loved the muppets ever since then.

My daughter finds it hilarious that I love this stuff. We watch alot of it together.

17. Depends on our mental age too...
Edited on Wed Aug-27-08 01:47 AM by mwooldri
I could say that parts of me haven't grown up yet at all and probably never will. Besides if you have kids yourself it's a good excuse to watch with them.

Also could be a learned thing: if you entertain your kids with these things and you watch nothing else, maybe that does become entertainment to you because you're watching what the kids watch and that's really your choice of entertainment.

Could also be yearning for when we were kids again and remembering a simpler time.

But then who do you think makes all this stuff up in the first place? Sure isn't kids you know.

Mark.

Oh, and just to let you know, not all kids these days are unaware of Mario, the first game my 4 year old nephew played was Super Mario Bros. on the NES. I believe first impressions are important! :)

29. Warner Bros Rocks, Disney Sucks
Edited on Wed Aug-27-08 08:51 AM by MicaelS
Seriously, Disney was made for children. Warner Bros cartoons were made for adults BY adults. As one Warner animator said. "I'm making this stuff for ME." With Disney eventually you get tired of the sweetness, (Yeah, c'mon SHOOT Bambi's mom!) with WB, you can enjoy them for the slapstick humor, or the cultural in jokes relevant to the times. And at the WB toons didn't wimp out on violence as so many 'toons do today. American animation today basically sucks, that's why so many people who love animation have turned to the Japanese version.

Finally, anything forbidden is exciting, and I would love to have pristine copies of the Banned Cartoons for the sake of seeing what people thought and said back then and to have a complete collection of every Warner 'toon.

31. well, early Disney was made for a much larger audience than today
lots more adult fare.

We watched a lot of early animation in some of my film classes when I was in college, and I was amazed at some of the very adult themes. Besides that, say what you will about Disney as a corporation, Walt Disney was a stickler for quality and made sure that his cartoons were drawn at higher frames per second than many other animators. It creates a smoother, more intricate film. I haven't seen most of the more recent Disney films, and I can't count Pixar as really being Disney, so I won't comment further here.

I truly do not get the collections, but if it makes them happy  it doesn't bother me at all.

I don't generally like Disney stuff - it's too ..well Disney for me.

But i did like Finding Nemo and Happy Feet and Ratatouille. And i dig Harry Potter. And for some unknown reason I LOVE hello Kitty. Especially when she's covered in bling.
