(for those who haven't been around, I was let go from a job I took here in Milwaukee after I paid to move myself here. "Not a good fit", they said. The dryer's dead, Lelapin's financial aid is in Ohio State hell, my unemployment is being disputed, the 15 year old Honda keeps attempting suicide, I'm running out my asthma meds and on and on.)

Please know that I will pay this forward for the rest of my days...

Yeah, these days companies let people go saying "not a good fit" almost immediately after hiring them. Happened to me twice last year, once after 3 weeks and once after 5, but at least I hadn't moved anywhere for the jobs. And you're getting hit on all fronts. That's terrible. But you have a lot of friends here on this thread, which makes me believe you will be all right. :hug:

72. I never thought I'd be excited to buy

toilet paper (running out of boxes of tissues), a box of cereal, cat litter, cat food and laundry detergent... My rent is covered now. And it's a blessing, as my former employer is still holding up my unemployment claim. There are 4 weeks of benefits in limbo.

As long as I live, I will never forget what all of you (most of whom I've never met) have done for me. I've never felt such gratitude before. I'm humbled and honored that you would send money you've worked so hard for yourself to someone you barely know. My faith has been restored and I have this strange new emotion - hope. Haven't had that in a long, long time.

And prayers and good wishes are as good as dollars right now as well.

I hope I never forget how this all feels and I will spend the rest of my days paying it forward.

I didn't work in WI long enough, so Ohio has to pay. This will have no effect on my former employer's rates or anything. They're just being impossible. I keep telling the case manager in Ohio that I chose the wrong employer and they chose the wrong employee...

It's been a volleyball game of questionnaires going back and for between me, Ohio and my employer. Every one that is sent adds a week to the game.

Exasperating. And Lelapin's financial aid award still hasn't been finalized. She moves in two weeks to start her senior year in college.

I'm still scheduling interviews for jobs and hope that I can start something quickly so I can get a paycheck before the end of September.

89. Unemployment is confusing

I went on it one time just to show my previous employer I could. They disputed it, but lost the hearing, even though I had quit my job they determined I did so with cause.

By the time I got my first check I had another job, because I had already realized I could not survive on the $270 a week (or whatever the maximum in Florida was at the time) they were going to send me.

I only filed because my boss had never lost an unemployment hearing and bragged about it all the time, so I thought I would put that to rest for him. And I did.
