7. I don't think Jesus even loves them
Probably rolling his eyes, trying to get Dad to start shooting lightning bolts at them.

5. Please don't hurt me!
We got permission to hold our memorial service for the UU's in Knoxville on the downtown plaza. To be fair, I'm pretty sure we paid a fee, and it was sponsored by the Fellowship, not the government. Maybe the fundies did too?

6. Was it advertised on the city's website, as part of a citywide celebration?
I don't doubt that other groups can also hold memorial services in that park. The issue here is that the city is promoting this as part of the Lincoln Sesquicentennial. The Visitors Bureau lists it as part of the Lincoln Celebration. No other worship services (every church will be worshiping Sunday morning) are listed on the city website, yet only a few churches were invited to plan and participate in this service.

I think there's a vast difference. Hell, if one of the fundy churches had a shooting, I'd let 'em hold their memorial service in my living room if it eased the pain. But their service should NOT be treated as part of this celebration, should not be held in a public park, and should not be advertised with public funds, unless everyone was invited. They readily admit everyone was not.

9. That's just wrong
I know my city allows non-profits with a religious or political bent (the Pagan Alliance, the Gay Pride Committee, the Pro-Life Coalition, MADD, etc.) to use their facilities, but they don't sponsor them or advertise them on the website. I should pretty well think that if attendance is restricted in any way they're not even allowed to do that - the boy scouts had to find other places to meet besides the public schools because of their anti-atheist, anti-gay policies.

I understand why you're royally ticked off. I would be too.

8. Here's the latest: the mayor has left town to go to Denver.
That's right. He's a delegate. Another dem pandering to the RR.

To quote Ecclesiastes: There's nothing new under the sun.

10. Love Ecclesiastes
Very Zen scripture.

9:17 The words of wise men are heard in quiet more than the cry of him that ruleth among fools.
