so our oldster just went blank white and silent last weekend - a bit of a harsh surprise as usually our t.v.'s last forever, but that's the way it goes.
I was hoping to look to get it fixed, but no, hubby goes out and buys a Hi-Def. It's nice and all but taking advantage of all of it's features is kinda..... expensive, to say the least.
The box itself is another 350$ investment - this will give us HD for regular channels like CBS, CBC, etc., - 10 of them in a 'free' package that comes with the box. Additional channels like Nat'l Geo and such come at 9$ a month each. hmmmmm. another option for the box is a memory box which also gives you 120 hours to record on. 550$ I think.
Then there is the DVD thing. That would take about as much investment in buying a PS3 or what else there is available to play the what is right now a very limited selection at Blockbuster for rent.
so the add ons will come up to almost as much, or more, as the tv itself.
but I when I watch 'hi def' feeds, like the Olympics, etc., the picture is damn good! it's crispy flat juicy and amazing without any add on expenses. what's up with that? like how many times better can a picture be to validate spending so much extra money for it?
