7. Yeah, 1980-81 were particularly bad years for popular music.
Things began to look up a bit in '82 with the rise of New Wave and the rebirth of Top 40 radio. Unfortunately, after 1984, the music became increasingly lame and hasn't improved much since. Look for my upcoming poll of the Worst #1 Hits of 1985-89 and you'll see exactly what I mean!
