But isn't the point of a deserted island to be without luxuries a such as the aforementioned cabana boy? If that's what your after, you may have better luck at one of those Caribbean resorts. They also might have schnapps made out of better stuff than wild yams and dirt. :P

The point of being without luxuries is to be without distracting "luxuries" that effectively own you, like addictive TVs and cell phones that demand answers and cars that demand expensive fuel and oil changes, in favor of more "natural" luxuries like sipping pina coladas prepared and served by a cabana boy and eating ripe, luscious, tropical fruits and licking the juices from the fingers of the cabana boy who served them and getting a nice, long, slow massage from, say, a nice cabana boy.
