Send out some good thoughts to the Keys, please!
Gonna get crappy by this evening. Real ugly by tomorrow.

I hope she stays a tropical storm.

Well, back to the grind of preparations. All the lawn furniture is secured. Boats lashed down.

My favorite is climbing a ladder with a chain saw. That is up next.

Hope everyone else is having a good Sunday:hi: !

Here comes one of many squall lines. My elderly dog is terrorized. Big thunder and some heavy rain.

Hmmm, quite breezy too.:hide:

Only going to deteriorate further into tomorrow.

Edit to add a u in thunder, lol.

18. Unbelievable calm right now
with a fantastic sunset.

I saw two women get into a huge fight at the gas station. Big line of peeps waiting. I never get gas before hurricanes, so I avoid that particular headache. I was there to get propane for the grill.

I thought they were going to come to blows. Made me sad to see, because usually folks are so cool down here in times of emergency.

Oh well, bad on them.

41. Hey, thanks for the thanks.
I think people can always agree to disagree with other reasonable people. I never hold grudges for differences of opinion. If I did, I wouldn't be speaking with anyone in my family, lol.

And we are certainly on the same side on that particular issue. I had to stop reading that thread; just could not believe some of the comments.

The storm seems disorganized. Bad weather tomorrow, but nothing like what we've seen in years past.(or so I hope)

24. Lol,
one of our Keys radio stations was playing that Tom Petty song today - about the waiting.

Right now the storm is looking pretty disorganized. But we are right smack dab in the middle of that damn cone. Better if it went east of us. West and we get the nasty side of the storm

25. We were in the middle of the cone for the last storm.
Nobody here seemed nervous about it.

All we got was a little rain out of it.

My house was built by someone who's family was killed in the big 1900 hurricane.

When the guy built this house, he over built it.

Stay safe and I hope dry.

29. I know what you mean.
Sometimes being in the middle of the cone is great, because it is so often wrong.

I think it will mainly be a rain event too, but after Wilma and the rest of them in 2005, I'm a little nervous.

39. I will be glad when hurricane season is over.
I remember a few years ago when Houston freaked out over the big huricane that was coming.

My neighborhood was almost empty.

We went down to I -10 to watch all the cars stuck on the freeway,

This part of the freeway is below ground where it has flooded twice before.

We were ready with small boats, canoes, and little rubber boats.

The water comes up really fast.

The hurricane turned east so we just lost power for the day.

The waiting was terrible.

Hope all y'all get is rain.

43. Hurricanes are contrary critters, that is for sure.
I always thought it appropriate they had women's names, lol, not pc, but there you are.

Yeah, we geared up bigtime for Andrew back in the day. We were threatened with certain death if we did not leave the Keys. Some friends of mine left and went to Miami. Not a good decision. Night of terror and lost their car to a tree. CNN reported that year that the Keys were gone. Nope, we were all waking up in our boarded up sweltering houses looking for the first bar we could find open.

We did lose power in the Keys, because we are connected to the mainland by the tieline. But barely a squall.

Friends and I ended up forming a convoy with all the supplies we had hoarded and headed north to Florida City, where the migrant workers had been devastated. Everyone was in Miami and no one gave a crap about them. We just pulled up and handed out water, food, etc. It was an eye opening experience. FEMA? Pffft.

You just never know. The fearmongers on TV just irritate the crap out of me.

45. I never could understand how they thought all of Houston could escape at one time.
Only parts of Houston needed to leave.

There were people stuck out on the highway with no gas for miles.

There was a bus that caught fire and killed the people inside.

Everything was a giant mess.

We had over 50 people at my house before it was over, and many animals.

It was a time.

All the bugs are supposed to be worked now, I hope so.

I was not putting that together at first. I remember all that.

Yes, I remember watching the coverage of the traffic...and that horrible bus thing with all the elderly. Just awful.

Good for you for being there for the stranded ones.

Yeah, the evacuation plans are bullshit, for just about everywhere.

47. We rescued families with little kids, old people and pets.
The neighbors who stayed also took people in, it was just so hot and humid.

It was so stupid not to open a few lanes on the other side of the freeway, that would have helped.

If we would have been hit with the hurricane a lot of people stuck on I-10 might have died.

They had no way to escape with all that wind and rain.

We had wall to wall people in the house.

We passed out a lot of water to people in the cars, it was like a oven on the freeway.

I will not forget that hurricane.

Houston is so big that it doesn't take much to cause traffic backup.

I forget where you live in FL, but yes, I think we are probably safer than the rest of the state.

You on the west coast? It could definitely pick up steam, I mean the Keys do nothing to tear up a storm...we are just some rocks in the ocean. But hey, I'll have a word with the bitch as she passes through.

Right now, it is still dead calm.

Thanks for the vibes!
