DU as High School
Allow me to wade in to the latest flamewar by noting that like any other community, online or otherwise, DU does have cliques. I see this as neither good nor bad, merely normal. Looking in at the lounge one sees quite quickly that there are a fair amount of regulars, much like people who frequent the same diner or bar. They've known each other for a while and are hip to all the inside jokes. One sees this in the repore between certain posters over sports teams, or jokes dealing with certain Canadian rappers and their afficionados. Or a certain poster with a flair for photoshop, who managed to place another poster's daughter's prom picture in one of his notable works.

This is not limited to the lounge, I post in the R/T forum, which also has its fair share of regulars, as does the 9-11 forum. These could indeed be considered cliques and there is nothing wrong with them.

1. I have no problem w/ cliques
This is about camaraderie, & all of us like some folks better than others.

I think some of us are taking this, and ourselves, WAY too seriously.

3. I'm down with that
In high school I got along with all, talked often to each clique, and I even made a little money off most of them.

I never was considered in one though. I like it that way.

Hmmm..
Wonder if there is a way to get in all the clique's pockets :D

:hi:

4. I thought this was going to be about most of the people here being immature as fuck.
But yeah, cliques happen. People befriend each other and thus communicate more with one another. My friends on this site are mostly because of similar tastes in music, for example.

But a lot of posters on this site (and many no longer on this site) who consider themselves adults need to grow the fuck up.

5. Yeah, I'm a bit of a loner in life and I'm a loner here, it works.
