Post some of your favorite local bands from back when you were in High School
Memories - we had some kickass bands. There was Kix (who still tours and does Rocklohoma each year), The Sharks (Won the first MTV video contest), Hybrid Ice (quite the memory to their song Magdeline) and a local Perry County Favorite - the Inciters.

What were some of your local favorite bands from your HS years?

Now there's a band name that I haven't heard in about 20 years!!

I used to have one of their cassette tapes -- I'll have to see if I can find it.

**on edit:

Have you heard of the Gigolo Aunts?

I went to high school with those guys.

12. "Full House" from Fox Chapel, PA-- late '70s...
...Admittedly, it was a bunch of my pals. Steve, Brad, Nick, Mike, Wally D.! They rocked, though. Did a mean "Funk #49," and a killer "China Grove."

The two biggest here were probably The Kingsmen and The Frost. The Frost featured Dick Wagner, who's gone on to have a very nice career backing national musicians -- most notably Alice Cooper. Terry Knight and the Pack, from Flint (35 miles), were big, too, and evolved into Grand Funk Railroad by the time I was in high school.
Question Mark and the Mysterians ("96 Tears") are from Saginaw, as is Stevie Wonder. My bestest buddy, Polly, a few years older than me, went to Saginaw High with Rudy Martinez, aka "Question Mark."
Bob Seger, Ted Nugent and Alice Cooper would be good examples of other acts local enough to drop in a couple of times a month. So were the MC5 ("Kick Out the Jams") and SRC ("Hall of the Mountain King").
John
We attended most of our live shows at the YMCA (Friday nights), Daniel's Den (a converted movie theater) on Saturdays and the Bay City K of C Hall most other times. Usually, a show cost a buck a ticket -- two or three for the big shows at the Auditorium.

19. Van Halen.
The only time I paid to see them was in high school gymnasiums for the stunning price of .50 cents. A year later they played the forum and tickets were $6.00 bucks, so I refused to pay that outrageous price..

21. Seventh Son
Seventh Son played some original stuff and a LOT of the classics at a little dive my pals and I would hit called 'Skippy's Mistake'. And they were GOOD-- not the typical 'college garage band trying to make it big' stuff. Just some really good guys who had day jobs and rocked the house on the weekends! :)
