Have you ever said "shiver me timbers!" and been serious?
If so, I can tell you why people don't like to stand near you in public.

5. You know what I hate? Leeches.
Once when I was little, I fell in the lake and came out with a leech on my foot, and my dad used a lighter to burn it off of me. I don't know what was scarier- the leech or the lighter technique.

8. Ugh. Once I met a girl who was a cheerleader for the Vikings,
in one of my classes in college (when I lived in the Cities). She was INCREDIBLY annoying and kept telling me that my husband and I should come out on her boat with her and her boyfriend. Then she would ask me about my son and say things like "I'm never having kids- it totally ruins your body." Nice. I like boats, but not enough to go out on one with that kind of company.:eyes:

9. Geez, how annoying...
I know a girl that used to be a Vikings Cheerleader as well, now she lives in St Cloud and is a Target Store security person...

She is super annoying...

4. I could have, I ran aground hard once
it crossed my mind to say it, but I was too busy making sure we were not going to get shot to shit while we were aground.

So, no. My best opportunity to use that phrase was destroyed by operational imperatives, I fear.

so

SHIVER ME TIMBERS!

6. That's scary.
I think if you had said it, it would have sounded a bit insufficient.
