He's never been, other than X-Country once, I think. This will be fun. :D

3. I'm planning on going easy on him...
Probably Berkshire East, out in Charlemont, where my brother and I learned when we were little. I won't make him try Mt. Snow yet...that would be mean.

:)

10. Heh
I learned at Campgaw, NJ, so going to the places in NH and VT on high school trips was a real treat. Until one time we went to Vernon Valley, NJ and I had everything but my fucking boots stolen. *sigh* Don't miss New Jersey a second.

In case you're wondering. First they nabbed my ski tote with lock while I was putting my boots on. Then I even separated my skis on the ski racks to get some dinner. Came out and they were gone, too.

The line to file reports at the ski lodge was about 20 people long. Fucking criminal, I'll be the ski patrol was getting a kickback for looking the other way or just not caring. I went a few more times to different places, with new skis thx to Home-owner's insurance, but there was always a bad taste in my mouth.

4. Noooo....
I told him he doesn't have to start on the bunny hill, as he's far too tall for the T-bar, but we'll start him on a good novice trail. I miss skiing. I'm bringing my hotshot brother along too. :D

9. I saw you mention Berkshire East. Gunstock might be closer.
Good place for noobs. Plus they have a wicked half pipe where he can see that what he really wants to do is snowboard.

16. Eh, I like my home slopes...
Plus, I want to take my lil Bro. Berkshire has 10+ novice runs, so I think he'll be ok. :)

I'll check Gunstock out though.

Maybe my brother can get him into boarding. That's not my bag.

:)

Skiing is easy...easier than riding a bike or swimming. He'll be fine. My brother and I are great skiers.

11. I have less than no interest, which is funny since I live in such a great place for it.
But combining three things I hate- cold, exercise and trees (I don't actually hate them, I'm just allergic to a lot of evergreens, which makes trips above the snow line kinda less than fun) isn't my idea of a good time.

13. I snowboard but I can't ski, too.
Did you ever try the alpine run/kart thing at Attitash in spring/summer? THAT was awesome!

18. I *tried* to learn skiing at Killington.
I couldn't master turning. Or slowing down. By the time I got towards the end of the run, I felt like I was going 100 mph. Those unfortunate folks that became my speedbumps. I still think of them...

22. 17.
I'm not kidding nor embellishing here, either. I think the skis were defective or something.

What's really f'd up, is that I'm pathetic on a skateboard, but I can rollerblade pretty well.

21. he'll do fine i bet, my problem with the snow board was again--"board" and now that i'm not 7
my center of gravity is much higher, i didn't realize that until i put that stupid snowboard on. Stupid center of gravity!

23. I just feel much more comfortable locked into two objects,
vs one. Maybe that's just me. I feel much more in control on skis. Plus, I just think it's more fun. I can't f'n wait to go again, it's been forever.

Plus, it'll be nice to ski with my brother again. We grew up skiing together, and we used to have so much fun.

24. and you know what you could do, rent him shorter skis, like 110's to start, it might
make it a bit easier to learn, when i learned i was 7 and really short so no problem but knowing my lack of coordination and height now i think it might be far more difficult. Anyhow, just a thought. 110'2, 120's, whatever it takes.

:o

26. Yeah, I was 7 when I learned too, my brother was 5 or 6
iirc. I've been explaining to him how it works, how to use your edges on turns, etc. I think he's just worried about hitting a tree. I promised him I won't let that happen. In all my years of skiing, neither I or any of my friends/family have done that. :)

29. Skiing is a lot of fun!
So is snowboarding! I was hoping to get to Klosters this winter but since the boyfriend wants to go to Vegas for New Years, I'm not sure if we'll find the time.

Plus, those quiet times in the hot tub back at the lodge sure are nice too :P
