What I wouldn't do for some Brownies right now.
x(

My pain had been so bad that it's often uncontrolled throughout the past week or so. I'm hitting my daily max for meds far more often than usual. I'm in so much pain that total strangers see it and ask me if I'm okay. I think this is mostly because of the horrible weather we've been getting. It's not just bad weather, but very volitile and changeable weather.

Often I can't get any sleep until I'm so medicated that I knock myself out. And then when I'm knocked out my body responds by letting loose with the total exhaustion I've been saving up, and I end up sleeping for 16 hours. It's one extreme or the other.

I could really use a gentle, more mellow way of handling the pain and getting to sleep. :smoke:

It's been a very, very long time since I had access to anything like this.

17. Nothing exotic.
Dense chocolate cake without anything in it to make it rise, with a chocolate frosting on it, and a little something in it to help make pain easier to handle. :)

I don't know what the other choices are, but are any of them as good at this for making pain bearable?

21. I'm not counting on it
they'll all still think we just want to get high.

My daughter had a birthday this week and I made her the most sinful chocolate cake ever -- dark chocolate with coffee in it and then a homemade dark chocolate ganache frosting. We're all cake freaks, this was so dense and intensely chocolate that nobody could eat more than a small piece but we still managed to finish it off in 2 days. If you come to WI I can't hook you up with pain killers but I CAN make you some killer chocolate.

It's not quite as good as Brownies, and certainly not as effective as special Brownies. But it's still damned good chocolate.

For that day when you feel like making some here is my easy breezy we don't need no stinkin brownie mix recipe:

1 stick butter
1 cup sugar
1/2 cup flour
1/2 cup cocoa
3/4 tsp salt
2 eggs lightly beaten
1 tsp vanilla
nuts if you want them
other stuff if you want it

8 or 9 inch pan
oven at 350

Melt butter, add sugar, stir til sugar dissolves. stir in the eggs until combined, add the cocoa and stir until dissolved. Then add the flour and salt and stir until you can't see any white stuff. add vanilla.

**here is where you add the nuts or stuff if you are doing so**

pour into greased pan and bake 20 minutes. **keep an eye on them and test after 15 because you don't want to over cook these. They are supposed to be moist ***

Let them cool if you can wait that long.

*****alternate method using baking chocolate*****
2 oz chocolate, unsweetened, instead of the cocoa
Melt it with the butter ..when the butter is melted, stir the mixture around to finish melting the chocolate.

I do all the melting in the micro wave in the mixing container, large micro proof bowl of some kind. Saves cleanup.

Here's hoping you can try these yourself on a good day. They are awesome.

24. I was thinking, "you're sick, why can't you get a card and go to the dispensary?"
And then I remembered that's pretty much a left coast thing. :(

If I'm not mistaken, some of the places out here have premade baked goods, some of which are vegan, since so many patients handle ingestion better than inhalation.

dispensary. Even on the west coast it's not working out so well because of fucked up national policies. x(

You sent me links a while back to two vegan stores that deliver. I order from them periodically, and they do have brownies. I definitely think I'm adding some to my next order. :9

32. Yep.
The local PD here doesn't care, but the county mounties from the next county over have been known to drive into our county, follow people home from the hydroponics store, dig through their trash for evidence and arrest people in this county. I'm not even sure how that's legal.

31. I'd pay a lot of money to just sleep.
As it is, even when I medicate myself to sleep the pain shows up in all my dreams. It makes for very unpleasant dreams while your mind tries to justify why you hurt so much. :(

You're right. If corporations made millions from it, it would be legal everywhere. But if they can't patent it, own it, control it, and make large profits from it they'll make sure it stays illegal.

34. Mr. ThomCat
You may have been following my threads about my lack of pain relief, and also about getting fired by my doctor over losing my temper over said lack of pain relief.

I have the arm taser pain and the neck burn tonight.

I have indulged in the solution that you have mentioned in your OP.

It is helping, but only a little.

Let's try to make our pain leave us for an evening...I don't know...let's wish it away

I wish we could both get some relief. And then hang out and enjoy it together.

37. A bottle of red wine might help too
And I happen to know of a good Merlot that has a sort of chocolate essence to it that really smooths out the wine and gives you a relaxing splash of taste. The bottler is called Barefoot and it is a very moderately priced Merlot. Of course it is nothing close to the level of relief you are talking about.

And if you know of any reliable sources in MI let me know I have been battling depression since January and the only real times that I am not feeling like crap is when I have that form of relief.

Hope you find a way to feel better, and feel better soon.

I'm going to fantasize about that now.

And then, if that many more people went to their doctors with minor but controllable pain doctors might finally take pain really seriously as a medical issue and that might change some policies about pain management. :)
