6. apparently the so-called olympics cease-fire has been scrapped
I always remembered hearing how all violence is supposed to stop during the Olympics. Guess not anymore.

10. I wouldn't call it major, though the Georgians started it....
most of the people in the breakaway province have Russian citizenship and Georgia started lobbing missiles into the town, killing 10 Russian 'peacekeepers'.
