remember the show romper room?

at the end of each program they'd have ms. sally or whatever the fuck her name was talk to the camera and say, "i see billy, and mandy, and tommy, and bruce . . ." etc.?

i always used to wait for her to say my name and she never would and i would get sad.'

5. Sad fact about me...I was named after a little girl on Romper Room.

Yes, we had it in the Quad Cities, too. My parents had settled on a boy's name for me, my dad's middle name as my first and vice versa, but were still debating a girl's name. My dad liked a feminine form of his middle name, my mom...not so much. So, on the day I was due, but 10 days before I actually arrived, my brother was watching Romper Room and there was a little girl with this name. So, he calls my mom out of the kitchen and says "That's a pretty name. We should name the baby that." And thus they did.

9. My kids both have middle names that were influenced by TV

some day they're going to hate me for it -- Avery is my eldest child's middle name (not so much "after" Avery on Murphy Brown but definitely inspired by it) and Gillian for my younger child's middle name (again not so much as because of but influenced by Gillian Anderson from the X Files). I realize it's truly pathetic on my part, but it's true.

7. I always used to want one of those mini-personalized license

plate thingys for my locker, but no one ever had my name:( Of course since I am the victim of hippie parents who chose (probably in a cannabis induced fog) to give me a truly original name which they freaking made up, I was behind the eight ball on that dream from birth on :shrug:
