The Gibson "Power Tour Electric Guitar"

At least Guitar Hero has the honesty to be a video game.

This is an abomination.

8. Rock Band II comes out in a month
There might be a glut of Rock Band I at used game stores, especially since all the tracks of Rock Band I can be saved to your console's hard drive.

OTOH you might want to try out Rock Band II to see how much they've improved an already perfect game.

It's the best entertainment investment we've ever made.

11. What do you think about the drums, though?
My son plays them while I play the guitar and my SO plays the bass.

When my son hits the drums, the loud clacking sound makes it hard for us to concentrate.

Someone told me there are pads that can be put on the drums - ever hear of it?

15. Crank your speakers to 11 and the drums aren't a distraction
We only play at reasonable hours with our windows shut.

We have our console connected to SurroundSound and play it loud.

We put the drummer at the back of the room, as far back as the cord allows.

It's really not a problem. Maybe we're just lucky to have a relatively quiet drummer.

I can see how it might be annoying if you were just playing with your TV's speakers though.

6. Guilty...
But hey... I'm gonna actually find someone who has the game and give it a try. It's probably fun, and no more diminishes actual musicians than some pro football video game diminshes football players.

But, yeah... my gut reaction to those types of games has been one of knee-jerk disdain.

9. That was always one of my gut-level beefs...
That you could bypass that pesky 'investment of time and effort required to learn to play an instrument and paying some dues' and jump right to the fun part!

But then, it's just a high tech version of me at 12 years old... wailing away on a tennis racket in front of my bedroom mirror. :headbang:

I just need to step away from the reactionary thing and put it all into perspective.
