I just had a truly odd experience
I went in the garage to get some paint, and I was sitting on the steps trying to get the lid off the paint when I saw what looked like a coiled piece of metal behind the garage door. I closed that door a couple hours ago, so I knew there was nothing behind the door as of 6:00.

I went to go check it out, and it was a snake caught in a black widow web.

I pinned it down with the paint stirrer, picked it up, cleaned most of the web off it, and put it outside.

I think it might have been bit, 'cause it wasn't looking too good, but at least I gave it a chance.

But how weird...

1. That spider could have had food for life!
She must be so frustrated.

7. Sharp-tailed snake
We've seen two snakes here, and they've both been that kind.

We're in the city, too.

6. Poor little snake.
That reminds me of the time we found a juvenile roof rat convulsing on our driveway. We assume that it fell out of the neighbor's pine and Lord knows we don't want roof rats near our house, but this was just a little guy. He didn't last long.

8. Sounds like Fritz Leiber's sf story The Big Time.
An eternal temporal war between beings that the humans caught in the war call Spiders and Snakes.
