What do you think is the best at hiding odor?

2. Feline Pine is great
No dust. It's these little cylinders of compressed pine that disintegrates when it gets wet. Really good at keeping the odor down.

32. Feline Pine in four boxes!
Gave up clay years ago. No 'back of throat tickle' from the dust. Every now and then save a dollar by getting the PetSmart store brand.

Feline Pine "semi-clump" is useless however.

There is no mixing litters once you go pine...

Flint River Ranch used to sell the pine pellets years ago-- packages started busting in shipping and they stopped. Feline Pine is the stuff to use.

4. I tried some wheat littler, but eventually, I had ants coming into the house to eat the litter.
Edited on Wed Jul-30-08 11:03 PM by Skip Intro

I use unscented (because I don't really like a strong perfume smell and I think without those chemicals, it must be safer for the cat).

Cats lick their paws and ingest some portion of their litter. I don't want to use anything that could harm my awesome little feline companion. And those "crystal" things - I'd never use.

Of course there are natural pine litters and such. Haven't tried those.

But he seems fine with the unscented litter. I think it's called Cat's Pride.

Sadly, while I speak in the present tense, I lost my little best bro last week to liver issues. He was 15 or 16. I'm sure I'll have a thread on this sweetheart as soon as I get his traditional pics transferred to a disk.

Anyway...

25. I tried the wheat litter and when I cleaned my boxes yesterday I had to
throw it all away, it is so hot here(boxes are in garage) that apparantly some sort of fermentation process started in the wheat based litter and it was horrible. Worse than normal kitty box odor definitely.

We had been buying the house litter from Petco, you buy your buckets, then return the buckets empty and they recycle them out again full of litter. They used to have a big bin in the store from which you could just refill the buckets but they don't have that anymore

It is OK litter, clumps pretty well, but I was looking for something not quite so heavy.

9.  I use either The World's Best Cat Litter or Feline Fresh, depending
on where I happen to be shopping when it's time to get some. They're both biodegradable, clumpable, only naturally scented, and the cats like 'em both. WBCL is made from corn, Feline Fresh is made of saw dust, basically.

Oh, and the beagle doesn't mistake them for dog food.

10. I used to use "Feline Pine" but after I got the litter robot, I switched to Tidy Cats Hard Clumping
Because it crumbles less than other clumping litters and leaves less of a mess for me to scrub out of the grate.

Unfortunately, it's no longer carried in my state for some freaking reason.

Now I use Fresh Step, which is similar.

16. Target's store brand. Half the price of others, good on odor control.
And they run it on sale frequently, too. $4.59 regular price (14 lb. jug), often on sale for $4 or less.

18. I can't use clumping litter
One of my cats is so big that he saturates the litter and renders it useless for scooping. So I just get the regular kitty litter and change that out every other day or so.

Edited on Thu Jul-31-08 05:01 PM by Kali
cheapest unscented crap in a big bag when I have to buy it. I also use a big blue plastic bushel basket sized container with rope handles so I don't have to deal with it too often. It gets dumped in a "special" compost area for solar recycling. yeah that's it.

31. Cedarific
It's got a pleasant scent, and it really cuts down on the ammonia stink. It also doesn't stick to the box like the clay-based stuff.
