Heath Ledger, Batman, BMW M5 Diamond, cops, etc
My night:

1. Waited at the AMC theaters to make sure we had good seats for The Dark Knight.
2. Realized there was no line, and people just entered the theater early and took all the good seats.
3. The movie was great even with having to sit on the side.
4. Heath deserves to be nominated for an Oscar and may very well win it.
5. There was no special trailer feature.
6. A silver BMW M5 Diamond sped off the I-5 going north at Nobel Dr and tried to go right.
7. It was too fast, missed the turn and sped up off the median of the street and hit the curb.
8. It backed up from the curb it hit and proceeded to travel on the wrong side of the street until it came to a stop.
9. The driver exited the car and ran and was never to be seen again.
10. We (me, my brother and our roommate) were walking back to the apartment when this all happened.
11. We tried to call 911 immediately and it was busy.
12. Ahead of us but on the other side of the street were two other guys.
13. They ran to the car to check if the driver was alright.
14. We met up with them, and they started to peek into the car.
15. One of the dudes stole a pack of cigs from the purse in the car.
16. They left the scene because one of them had pot on him and the other had a bb gun.
17. We stayed and told the cops everything.
18. If it was black and silver I may have been tempted, even with all the leaking fluids, to get into the car and drive away because it was a fucking sexy car.
19. The cops told us it was a vehicle involved in a chase that actually evaded the cops.
20. Supposedly if you drive 120 mph, you CAN escape the cops.

11. I'll bet it said "DINAN" not "diamond" after the M5
And if it was a thoroughly Dinan-ized M5, I'd wager it was pretty darn fast.

12. That's what I thought too
Or a dealership named Diamond (or tuning company).

Dinan'd M5 = 630 some odd horsepower, last I read. They usually up the brakes and suspension, too.

I'm going with lousy driver.

13. Ever see the YouTube of the kid with the E30 BMW M3 vs. Cops?
Kid could drive, and he used every inch of that little beast (especially the brakes!).

14. No I haven't, but
I'm bookmarking this so I can look for it when I'm not riding the corporate VPN (they don't allow YouTube).

19. I loved that bit! I also like how the "kid" outran the cops, out-drove the cops,
and used his vehicle far more effectively. It's also the only chase scene I've watched where you don't see the cops make the collar. Rumor on one of the BMW boards is that the kid got away (car did not break down, as stated on the video) and was caught the next day.

16. Glorifying car chases, cool!!
A guy just ran over and killed a couple walking in a crosswalk on Hollywood blvd a couple days ago after a 100+ mph chase (charged with two counts of murder, not manslaughter, faces life).

Sexy. Cars. Chases. Fun!!

So, yeah, if you can go more than 120 mph down a busy city street in a stolen car, go for it!!
