Bring on the flame throwers- I know I am gonna get flamed.
One thing that always impressed me was the support in the lounge. Whether it is a family memeber who just passed away, or a sickly animal or a friend going through a rough time. You people offer support.

Well about two hours ago. I come within a few inches of being hit by a truck. It would not of killed me, but it would of hurt alot. Plus it would of been on my left side which is basically held together by an internal erector set.

Call me co-dependent or looking for sympathy I dont care. But I got two replies inwhich I thank-you. But not really much response along the lines of glad you were not hurt. It gave me thought of leaving this forum. It really scared the shit out of me. I am still shaking and yea I guess I wanted some support from my friends here, but silly me. O well If I decide to go I will let you know.

DEMMAN- FLAMES AWAY-

2. I guess coming 'within a few inches' of being hit
Edited on Fri Aug-08-03 01:33 PM by FlashHarry
means that you weren't really hit. I'm sorry you were startled, but there's a difference between that and having a loved-one pass away. (Or even a pet, for that matter.)

Still, it doesn't mean that we don't love you just the same... :hi:

On edit: here's a smiley for ya

do as Truman would do and roll your sleeves back, stick out your chest and say, I am one tough MoFo!

4. Glad you're not hurt!
It's stuff like that which makes me consider if I've done enough with my life, am I headed in the right direction and what people might say if they summed up my life.

Time to reflect!

Okay, times up!

and I'm glad that you are ok. Two hours is not really a long time and since you posted in the middle of the day (in my part of the world) some folks might be away from their computers. Please don't leave DU over this!

7. That must've shook you very badly
and it's not a problem for you to seek solace. But just because we didn't come up with solace in the right amount at the right time, doesn't mean it's not there.

Glad you're still in one piece.

9. You're being a Drama Queen!
:P Hey I really am happy you were not hurt. And though I saw that, it was not as compelling as when someone writes that a loved one died or they DID get hurt. But to make it into a second post is very dramatic. I love melodrama though. It is a requirement in my friends.

10. Glad you're OK, but............
there is another post in the Lounge about someone actually perishing in an auto accident last night. Someone who was a co-worker of a well respected and universally loved DU'er.

Guess that your post didn't seem to carry as much weight. And in all honesty, when I see a post that features an expletive in the Subject Line (even though it was edited), I usually pass it by.

Bottom line is, you're OK. That's a good thing.

23. Thank-you everyone
It really just scared the shit out of me. And I dont wanna go through the ordeal of more surgery on my left side. That is what really scared me. Yea sometimes I am a little drama Queen and get my feelings hurt a little to easy. I am usually thick-skinned but not always. As far as what cat power is going through I am no wear near that and what she is going through. I live close to her and have extended family very close to her. I have been following the story and the incredible sadness of it. I just dont know what to say to her over it but when I figure it out I do plan to say something to her.

Thanks

DEMMAN- Should I change my name to DEMMAN the drama Queen?

27. Damn Thank-you
It really is a miracle I am not a quadraplegic or at least a paraplegic. The way I hurt my left side was I fell off a cliff in La Jolla California. Totally crushed my left leg in the impact. It shoulda done a lot worse. Most of my leg is now held together with metal. Hurts like hell most of the time-but I do consider my self lucky. The docs said I was very lucky not to have broken my back or had brain damage cause I also busted my head open. Just lots and lots of scars.

Thanks again

DEMMAN

28. JESUS.. a cliff?. gives me the jeebies just thinking about it
we should compare xrays someday.. but I bet you win the metal in the leg contest. whoa

yep we can look back and we know it coulda been worse and be thankful for that.. But it still sucks having to deal with pain every day.
