Free online faxing?

I send a fax maybe once every five years, don't feel like hooking up my old fax machine and don't want to pay a lot. Doesn't Google have a free service? I couldn't find it if they do.

It's free because of the ad they put on your fax. There are other services where you can pay a fee for a package deal. Just google "internet fax".

2. I pay for faxes but it's cheap...

faxitnice.com - sends faxes for nominal cents, just have to put in a pre-payment amount.

4. I just stuck a cheap fax/modem card in a PCI slot

Let's me fax any document straight out of my computer using my landline.

It's free for a limited number of pages per month, I think.

6. I have a faxmodem and a printer that claims to fax, but...

I usually just go down to the local copy store and have them do it.

(I've had problems with scanners properly scanning documents for faxing.)

7. The one I bought is from '98

And still has the original roll that came with it. The most use we ever got out of the machine was using it when my wife's ex used to call and harass her. She'd see his name on the caller ID, turn the fax machine on and let it answer the phone.

8. Did I ever tell you all about the time I was terrorized by a fax machine?

I started getting fax calls on my home phone 4-6 times a day. I don't know how in the hell I got on these people's fax list. Anyway, I got sick of it and set up my PC with my modem to receive faxes so I can at least see where they are coming from. It was the department of wildlife for some reason. I called and kindly asked them to remove my name from their calling list. The fax calls continued..so I waited a couple of days and called them again to ask them to remove me from their fax list...the calls continued.

So I finally took matters into my own hands and starting faxing THEM! I would send faxes with huge fonts saying...REMOVE MY NUMBER,I AM SICK OF GETTING YOUR FAX CALLS!! Then I sent several pages of nothing but black paper,wasting their toner.Then I sent another message...REMOVE MY NUMBER NOW and sent several more all black pages. The calls stopped after that. :-)

9. We had to do that with some harassing sales people once

Before the internet got big and companies could send spam emails we used to get junk faxes many times a day at this one office I worked at. One of my co-worker's mom suggested what you did and we did it with a vengeance. Four to five black pages followed by one long continuous one that told them how desperate and what losers they were, etc. After three to four days the faxes stopped.
