My dad just emailed me about travel arrangements. He wanted to know what hotel in Austin I wanted to stay in. They are coming down for my graduation. First of all we have relatives in Austin that I prefer to stay with whenever I am there. (There is a small possibility of my aunt not being around those days or something, in which case I have to suck it up and stay with my parents). The reason I do not want to stay with my parents is that my dad is too cheap to pay for two hotel rooms and I would have to bunk with them. I would never get any sleep. I cannot sleep with other people in the room. I just can't; I don't know why but it happens every single time. So, thanks but no thanks Dad. On the off chance that my aunt's place in unavailable, I will find a way to pay for my own room. I am 40 years old. I don't need to be sharing hotel rooms with the folks.
This is the main reason why I am not taking them up on their offer of a graduation present. They (and some other relatives) are going to a resort in Nevada (not in Vegas, though). Why? I have no idea. They wanted to pay my way. Dad wants to play golf I guess and everybody else wants to gamble. As for me, I hate both of those things. WTF would I do in Nevada for a week? You know, Dad, they have golf courses in the Bahamas. Vacationing with my family is like the 9th Circle of hell. So, no vacation for me, at least not with them and not in Nevada.
