25 years ago today Dad had a cerebral hemorrhage
I'll never forget Mom shaking me awake and saying, "Get your clothes on - we're taking Dad to the hospital." I went in to see him before the ambulance came and his speech was very slurred. He said "I'm sick all over" and "I'm dying." Die he did, the next morning.

3. wait - WHAT?
What about B925? What have I missed? Worried here ---

And not to hijack your thoughts, DTBK, what a sad anniversary. I'm so sorry. At least you saw him briefly before he was gone.

5. No no - Bullwinkle's fine!
She meant RIP to Bullwinkle's and my dad!

Thank you. It's hard to believe he's been gone for over half of my life.

7. oh, OK.
I recalled a thread last week where Bullwinkle wasn't doing too well... phew!

Thanks for letting me know.

Do you do anything on this day to remember him? Some people like to have small ceremonies, or rituals, and others don't -- I honestly don't remember the days my grandmothers died, but still feel their loss acutely. My memory is weird - more feelings rather than specific events (drives my husband crazy sometimes).

9. No rituals - just kind of mentally reliving the day
Seeing him in his casket was the hardest thing I've ever had to do (until I had to see my mother in her casket). We weren't with him when he died - he died at 6:05 the next morning. I feel so awful about that. I was lucky to receive the last known response from him - there's a silly face I make, and I made it for him and he kind of crinkled up his nose as though he were either smiling or trying to make the same face.
