Joe on Blue's Clues sucks worse than anything
Watching an episode with him is like getting an enema from the front end.

1. Yeesh.
Pretty harsh description there.

Is he not the original guy? I liked the original guy.

3. Blasphemy!
Steve Burns is the original. In the show's canon, "Joe" is his purported brother.

I keep waiting for the episode in which Blue mauls him.

6. Oh yeah... Steve.
Hey it's been a while... I forgot. Steve's a cutie. :)

Problem solved. Sorry, Joe.

8. Do you know why Steve left the show?
Good trivia question, by the way.

9. Didn't he decide to pursue a music career?
I have no idea if that was the reason he actually left (they occured around the same time) but the CD was great. He reminds me of the more artistic end of the indie-rock spectrum: Apples in Stereo, Polyphonic Spree, Flaming Lips. Less so Man-Man.

10. Actually
it's because he was going bald. He could have done it forever. He loved doing it. But he didn't want to pretend to be a bald preschooler. This is according to a Nickelodeon special on the anniversary of the show from about a year ago. What a sad little story. He really should have been Steve from Blue's Clues for as long as he loved being Steve from Blue's Clues.

He's a sweetheart. We saw him by chance at Lincoln Center one summer evening when my daughter (who's now 13) was about 4, I think. He saw us looking at him, and my daughter just jumping out of her skin with excitement. And he gave this calm, Zen-like wave of his hand. My wife mouthed, "Are you Steve?" He smiled and nodded. She mouthed, "We love you," and he bowed Japanese style. What a guy!

11. I heard a quote by him that he didn't want to turn into Krusty the Clown
A burned-out fifty something still trying to host a cartoon show.

The baldness was part of it, I think.

12. Then you need to check out Kevin.
I'd take Joe over Kevin any day of the week. (Kevin does Blues Clues in UK.) Some scenes like the mailbox scene doesn't translate well when homes don't have mailboxes, they have holes in the front doors for the letters to go through.

Mark.
