1. I sort of agree with it
Lenny and Mort were great for their time. Buddy Hackett still cracks me up.

11. Hard to argue with Lenny Bruce at the top of the list.
He pretty much defined the genre for everybody else who came afterwards.

5. In a shocking omission, Dane Cook did NOT make the list!!!!
The Dice Man, Andrew Dice Clay, did make it at #45.

Lewis Black at #94???? That doesn't sound right ...

9. I don't think Allen, Sahl or Hackett belong ahead of Carlin, either.
Then again, I don't think Pryor does, either. Bruce - maybe.

The rest of the list is an utter crock, but I don't have the time to dissect it and the only people who will agree with me are those who don't believe Steven Wright belongs on the list at all.

17. well, you could argue that without all the ones ahead of Carlin
particularly the political and issues comics like Sahl and Bruce - Carlin might not have done things the way he did.

Even Allen had that great quirky intellectual style as a stand-up...

23. A lot of it is just personal taste.
In my case, and I can't really explain why, Allen's standup "great quirky intellectual" style makes me cringe. Only Andy Kaufman's and Steven Wright's are worse. Lewis Black is right up there, too. It doesn't matter how good their material is, they really can't make me laugh because I keep hoping a sandbag will fall and knock them out or something.

Obviously, I mean no offense by using your words as a quote, I'm just pointing out that our tastes are different.

19. Woody Allen belongs in the top ten, his standup was brilliant.........
But Sarah Silverman better than Bob Hope?

When I was a teenager, Pryor and Carlin were Gods and Robin Williams and Steve Martin were pretty amusing too. I mean, we also had Monty Python, Cheech and Chong, Firesign Theatre and the original Saturday Night Live - so there was a lot of comedy......
