Be careful of your thoughts, for your thoughts become your words.
Edited on Fri Jun-20-08 11:33 AM by redqueen
Be careful of your words, for your words become your actions.

Be careful of your actions, for your actions become your habits.

Be careful of your habits, for your habits become your character.

Be careful of your character, for your character becomes your destiny.

Lionesspriyanka posted a Vonnegut quote that reminded me of this... have you heard or read it before? What do you think?

3. I love it!

But there is much to be said for

"not acting on it"-whatever the negative thoughts may be.
We DO have that much control.

Did that make sense?

4. Yes it does...
I think perhaps controlling those thoughts is what they meant by "be careful".

8. Thinking of having a beer
will cause you to go to a bar and order one, drink it, order several more and drink them, repeat this process throughout your life, become an alcoholic and die of cirrhosis of the liver.

9. My dear redqueen!
I think this is very accurate!

My thoughts do become my words...

This is how I write my poems!

As for the rest, they CAN be true.

We do have the power to interfere with this progression...

It depends on how much self-control you have!

10. That sounds like something from "The Secret"
I read that book...tried to get into it. Ultimately, I think "The Secret" is a big bunch of hooey.

12. Nah... this is just some anonymous thing...
my sister told me about it. She tells me all kinds of new agey stuff. The Secret, though... yeah... I haven't read it, but I've heard the same thing about it from others (it's hooey).

There was a book that she told me about that sounds good though... The Four Agreements. I might actuall read that one... someday.

16. I think it is true
and you can't control your thoughts, but you can control everything else after that...

So if someone is a bad character, they can't truly say they can't help it because they can, anyone is capable of change, it just takes a lot of work to change a habit, to change their character.

Yet it just takes the change at the moment of thought to words and action, just do something different.

:hi:

I like it!

Just kidding.

There's wisdom in that little ditty, or whatever it's called. It's worth remembering. I like it.
