Cat...no respect...
Our grouchy orange tabby just peed on the Nature's Miracle spray bottle! And glared at me while he did it! Apparently he wasn't pleased that I removed his "mark" from the throw rug by the front door...that I JUST took out of the dryer.

and the most you to show for it was an open crapper, you'd be pretty peeved too.

30. Mister Big Alpha Male
This cat is being all rough and tough--our cats are indoor cats, but there are a zillion outdoor cats in the neighborhood that he can see through the long windows and the screen door, so the only thing he can do to assert his authority is pee all over the inside of the house.

No, it doesn't make any sense to hoomans, but it's perfectly logical to the cat. :eyes:

28. Yes, he's quite good with the "F you"
Once, many years ago, we didn't change the litter box fast enough. He climbed into our papasan, sat in the middle of it, looked me straight in the eye, and peed all over the cushion. Completely saturated it. We had to throw it away.

So he took a huge dump in the middle of our bed

A few months later, his "owner" couldn't get him to leave - he hid from her, and held onto the carpet for dear life when she tried to get him to go with her...

33. That is the way he thinks!
How DARE I clean up his carefully placed mark to keep the invading armies of outdoor kitties from breaching our fortress! And the invading armies are all my fault, because we insist that he and his sisters remain indoor cats to prevent them from becoming road pizzas on our busy street.

O, the humanity! :eyes:

32. Whoops! Sorry about your sinus cleansing!
Yeah, if we didn't love them so much we'd have them all turned into hats (our usual threat).

Orange alpha male tabby feels the need to mark every vertical object in the house due to outdoor cats he can see through the windows.

Black part-Persian runt pisspot female has taken to pooping in the upstairs hallway or in Mr. MG's office if somebody gets to the litter box before she does, or if the other female hides and pounces on her. Plus she's queen of the hairball--I've seen her produce one bigger than her head, I swear.

But I am proud to report that not only does our middle cat (MY FAMILIAR, thank you very much) pee and poop ONLY in the litter box, she also politely tries to cover up whatever offending effluvia she comes across that has been produced by one of the other, less genteel felines.

I am also keen to note that the orange tabby and the Persian pisspot are emotionally bonded to Mr. MG more than me! So there!

i swear he can't even conceive of it --it's amazing. he comes when you call, he sits on command away from the food dish while you are giving him his food, he rolls on his back at the sight of you, if you call him while you are walking he will follow you. mind you, he's not bright, but wow, i'm just always amazed.

34. Gasp--what a cutie!
As I said elsewhere in this thread, we have three cats, and the pee-er as well as the upstairs-hallway pooper (part-Persian runt pisspot) belong to Mr. MG, whereas MY cat, a lovable lardass who is my familiar, keeps her discharge in the litter box AND tries to cover up whatever the other cats have dumped in offending places. She's not too bright either, but at least she's clean.

19. my parents had one cat
who decided he liked them. they already had 2 or 3 cats, so they decided to give him away.

he was not happy about that at all and went right through several people they handed him off to.

in one case, he apparently managed to start VOMITING BLOOD on this poor guy's carpet. we never did figure out how he managed that.

he won the fight and came back home for good.

23. I have one that used to piss on the bed when he was upset with my ex and the tension she caused.
Gawd, I'd get in SO much trouble when he did that, and she insisted it was a problem with my "discipline".

He never did that in 14 years before she got here, and has never done that since I kicked her out. Hmmm, seems to me that she was the problem, and not the cat ..

But OMG!, did I ever get a TON of grief when he did that!

He's fine now, and she's off making someone else's life miserable now.

25. My aunt used to have this humongous, mutant Main Coon
about the size of a small leopard. And he got mad at us because we left him to go shopping. So my aunt is one of those who insists that we all remove our shoes before entering her house, and the cat just totally nailed me! I was the first one thru the door in stocking feet, and my first step landed in a steaming pile! (cat musta saved it up until he heard us coming). This was 20 years ago, and I was a dog person, so I had no idea WTF was up--and I was hunting that cat for 3 days to give him the what-for!!

Never found him, of course--and my subsequent visits to my aunt never included any rapport with Kitty!

I once read an article in my ASPCA newsletter called "Litter Box as Letter Box." He's trying to tell you something. If he continues to have litter box problems, I recommend Feliway. It works well, especially using the diffuser... :hi:

27. Damned cat is just irritated by life in general
Those litter boxes (four, for three cats) were PRISTINE when he nailed the foyer. He's got issues because our "new" house (we've been here a couple of years) has old windows that nearly reach the floor, so he can see the intruder outdoor kitties in our yard. So he marks everything indoors, as though they're going to be intimidated. Doesn't work well, yet he persists, because he's also damned stubborn. But hey, I will try anything. Do they also have Feliway at pet supply stores?

43. That's where I got Feliway, at my local PetsMart.
And I ended up calling the Feliway people, since I didn't get it for litter box problems, but to calm my cat, since I rescued her from a perilous life outdoors and she was terribly skittish when I first brought her in, after five days spent at the vet. But the woman whom I got on the phone talked to me for about half an hour. She was more than helpful. Feliway is supposed to have calming effects, which can help with changes in either environment (which cats hate) or changes in the household, and is made to help with litter box problems. You can order it over the internet, or buy it, much easier, at most pet supply stores. Let me know if this helps, since I also had an orange kitty, three, actually...

35. sometimes cats are too sassy.
my baby girl cat (baby killface) took to peeing on stuff in front of me just to be a brat (not spraying mind you, just copping a squat and pissing away). the last time she did that i put her in the kitchen sink and turned the water on.
she doesn't pee outside of the litter box anymore.

45. Feliway didn't work for our little pisser
but "Cat Attract', a ridiculously expensive kitty litter with herbs in it, helped a lot.

Now we think it was an Alpha male thing- it stopped happening entirely when we lost our other male cat .

No matter what I do, the memory lingers on because the piss soaks into the wooden floors.

Damn brat (but, Lord, he is gorgeous! Wish I knew how to post pics- I'm computer illiterate).

46. That's what I fear
With our cat, it's alpha male vengeance peeing, to "threaten" the outdoor cats in our neighborhood--even though they can't smell what he's dishing out. So if it's a psychological thing, would a product stop him, or would he stubbornly persist? Guess I won't know till I try Feliway or Cat Attract.

I hear you about the wood floors. Luckily ours are poly-ed up pretty well, but I remember in our first house, when he got pissed off about something, he backed up to the wall and sprayed. It dripped down the wall, behind the shoe molding, and soaked into the raw edge of the hardwoods. That stain was permanent.
