Here's what sucks.
Having four homegrown goliath tomatoes in the fridge, and being out of bread and mayo.

And the Pig's closed.

Hmmmph! x(

3. Piggly Wiggly. Duh.

A small-chain grocery store that you find in many small southern towns.

10. I enjoyed my 6-week roadtrip through the south in 2006 immensely...
I just don't remember piggly-wiggly.

I do, however, being reminded that I could substitute hashbrowns for my grits, if I felt the need... :D

15. What exactly is a grit?
I've always heard of them (OK, mostly in movies), but my mom said she used to eat them when she was a kid in Ohio. Is it corn? Is it like porridge? I'm strangely intrigued...

16. It's made of corn hominy. It's a white substance...
it looks almost like sand before you cook it, and after cooking, it looks like cream of wheat. I've never had cream of wheat, but that's what a lot of people compare it to.

6. Wow....
we have them in WI too! I thought it was just us. My grandmother called it "The Wiggeldy Pig" until the day she died. She also called Alzheimers "Hoppenheimers", even after she was diagnosed with it. God I miss her!

Your grandmother sounds like a gem. I can certainly empathize with you about her passing. I miss mine every day, too.
