Looks like I will graduate in August after all.
After a lot of teeth-gnashing and worrying, I finally got a hold of my professor. Apparently she was not aware that the deadline was this Friday so when I told her, she put my stuff to the front, so everything is done. All I have to do is go through the document once more to check for misspellings and such, convert it to PDF and then hit send and I am done. There may be some formatting issues still but I have some more time for those kinds of changes I think.

Thanks for all the help.

1. Good for you!
I remember stressing out so much before my oral examinations for my MA that I couldn't sleep or eat for days leading up to it. I felt like my whole future was riding on it. It was an incredibly stressful period of my life.

There are many of us here who understand what you have been going through. Congratulations on getting over a major hurdle!

8. Yes it has been very stressful.
I am pretty sure I never want to go through that again. Several people have asked me if I want to get a Phd now and I just look at them like they are crazy.

3. Congratulations! I'm very happy for you -
I know it was causing you major stress. So many professors just seem to be clueless about *very important* deadlines! My sister had some of the same issues, getting her thesis slides reviewed by busy professors who were traveling, etc.

Anyway - :woohoo: and

5. I don't know why I expected them to know.
It's really my job to keep up with the deadlines. My one professor is a very nice person, but a little flighty.

6. Thanks.
I would have a party but my apartment is too small!

My folks are coming down for it though.

10. Whew...I feel better myself
And it turns out that all you had to do was ask. I guess that offers some kind of a lesson in your original question about how to deal with worry: do something. As a worrier myself, I try to insulate myself from other people's vagaries by making my expectations clear and reminding them of same. For any project I work on I move the deadlines ahead in my own mind and on my own calendar to allow time for unanticipated impediments. Then I work back from when I intend to have it finished to set deadlines for starting and finishing the various stages of the project. Always with wiggle room. And when I ask colleagues for material that I need to make my deadlines I tell them when I need it and a few days before I will either call or write a note to remind them. On the day of I arrive in person to pick up the stuff. Preferably rather early in the day, to give the worst offenders the time to get their eyes focused again, then promise to have it to me by the end of the day. Generally I always work ahead of schedule, and I will put on a push to keep to my own self-imposed deadlines, but I avoid that stomach-gripping terror of working to the last second and depending on a number of other people to work that precisely on a project that is, after all, not their own. Incidentally if I tell five people the actual deadline to have my work finished on a piece, at least three of them will hand me the supporting materials I need to complete it about a half an hour before that. So I never do that.
