3. Easy
1. LA
2. Las Vegas
3. Back to LA
4. I'd rather live away from the city and visit it often, but I could live being smack dab downtown somewhere. I don't drive so living in more urbanized areas makes it easier for me (why must LA public transport suck so much even though it's become a million times better the past ten years).

7. Ok.
1) No favorite city.
2) I don't mind visiting a city but would NEVER stay (live) in one. (or a suburb either)
3) None. I don't like cities.
4) No.

City life isn't for everyone. I like to keep my windows open at night and hear the local owl hooting. I enjoy not EVER hearing a siren from an emergency vehicle or other noises made by my fellow human beings. I guess you could call me a lover of rural living.

Who cooks for you? :)

I'm going to miss Southern Maryland and our semi-rural home when we move to CA in 7-8 years.

45. I cook for myself.
I can even do my own laundry & clean (sort of)! Believe it or not I can even sew if forced to!
I have tried urban living but the older I get the less tolerant I am of the intrusions others make into my life. The only thing that disturbs me now is the Tennessee Air guard when they fly over the house low level at night. Unfortunately I am on one of their training routes but its only once a week at about 9:30pm, the dogs ALWAYS go nuts.

3. New Orleans. Currently living in Austin, but very, very homesick.

4. Yep. Although I've lived the rural life through college and enjoyed that very much as well, I still lean towards having a nice house in the city, preferably several blocks away from the parade routes and streetcar lines. :)

13. Answers.
1.) Surprising but it's Hartford, CT where I grew up. I have a love affair with my town. I realize it's not a great city, heck I don't even like it most of the time. The answer is different in outlook; I have a passion for urban issues: redevelopment, future-cities, the change to a greater reliance on public transit, the "population bomb". Hartford has "great bones" as far as cities go: it has a great location, there is the infrastructure and land-capacity to build a best-in-nation transit system and to support massive population growth, an educated populace, scenic, established cultural/arts/history institutions, and a rich ethnic tapestry. Those are things you can't build and most cities will never have going for them. It just needs the strong leadership to get moving in the right direction, a solid vision of its' future, and a commitment to that vision. 20-25 years from now...it's going to be the place to be.

2.) Boston, Houston, Baltimore, Richmond, Chicago, Montreal, New Haven, Paris. Been there, done that, wrote the book.

3.) Actually I've been thinking about this. A lot. I'm not getting younger and I need to establish myself somewhere. There is zero market for the field I want to be in (Development/PR/NPOs) here in CT, especially not in my interest areas. I've been thinking a lot over the past 24 hours about New Orleans...there is definitely a need for people with my talents and interests. I just have no connections there, no foothold if you will, and it's a scary huge move.

4.) Me? A city person? You think? Yes. I'm about as city as one can get.

15. Mine:
Favorite: I'd have to go with my old stompin' grounds, San Francisco. However, if Berkeley qualifies as a city, I love that town fiercely. I used to live in Washington, DC, and that was a heck of a lot of fun, but I never felt like I'd be there permanently, which I wasn't.

Love to visit: New York, baby!

Relocate: Well, we did relocate to Portland, which I LOVE. We're not leaving. However, if I had to pick another, it would probably be Seattle or back to San Francisco (if I suddenly came into major $$$!)

City person: Yes. Since the mid-80s, I've lived only in urban areas -- Berkeley, San Fran., Washington, and Portland -- (with one year-long stop back in my parents' house in the 'burbs after college). However, I've always managed to find parts of cities that were low-key and residential in feel. I've never had the ginormous skyscraper type of city living experience, and I've never lived anywhere dangerous or even "gritty" within cities.

18. My answer
1. Which is your absolutely favorite city? Baltimore. Sentimentally in part because I had and still have family there and have fond memories of going up every weekend to visit my grandparents there. But even more because it just is a city with a culture of its own, and a city that is utterly lacking in pretense, unlike places like New York or DC.

2. Which city/cities do you love visiting but wouldnt want to stay in? Washington has some nice museums and culture to visit but is a hellhole in practicality, and I couldn't imagine living there. I like Miami but I don't see myself visiting there.

3. If you had to relocate and move to a city, which city would you pick? Jacksonville. I love the North Florida area, and Jacksonville is a surprisingly up and coming city. Possibly Orlando, but it is way to sprawly and dominated by Disney. All I know is that I have no plans to leave the State of Florida unless it is in a pine box, and not even then.

4. Do you consider yourself a city person? Not really. I've never lived in a big city. It is interesting but I think I might be too worried about crime. But they are fun to visit.

30. I'm a total city person. Although I enjoy being in the middle of nowhere as well.
It's just in between that I hate.

1. My favorite? Well, that's tough. Plus there are many I haven't visited yet. I think I'd have to go with a top five of (not in order): Barcelona, Paris, San Francisco, Vancouver, and New York.

2. Assuming I had the money I'd love to live in any of the cities I listed above, along with Seattle, Portland (OR), London, Tokyo, Sydney, Auckland. But it's hard to live in some cities with no money. Even if we make a decent profit on our place here in Chicago, we can't afford a house. I wouldn't want to live in New York or San Francisco without making considerably more money than I currently make.

3. Money no object, I'd move to San Francisco.

4. No question, I am a city person through and through. It's killing me that I'm going to have to move in the near future (money).

4. Do you consider yourself a city person? Yes, definitely. I was raised in rural Nebraska and I hated every minute of it.

41. As an person who travels a lot
I've gotten to experience many cities across the country. Here's what I have to say.

1. My favorite city (and home town) is Austin, Texas. My other top five would probably be Portland (OR), San Diego (CA), Boston (MA), Phoenix (AZ) and San Juan (Puerto Rico).

2. New York City, Los Angeles, Cleveland, Seattle

3. Portland or Austin

4. Yes, very much so. I've only lived outside of what I would consider a major city or metropolitan area for about four of my 34 years and while I liked the outdoors I quickly became bored. Believe it or not, I actually missed the traffic, the buildings and the hustle-and-bustle.

43. I am completely not a city person.
I live in a city of 18,000 and it's too big, crowded and noisy for me.

1.But if someone held a gun to my head and said I HAD to choose a city to live in, it would be Boston. Because there are enough quiet little corners of it that don't feel all the city-esque. Boston is my favorite city. I could also live in Des Moines...yes, Des Moines is a city, and a really manageable one.

2. I like New York, really enjoyed spending weekends there when I lived in Boston. I like St. Louis and Minneapolis-St. Paul, too.

3. Again, Boston or Des Moines

4. No, no, a thousand times no!

48. Great questions, Pri...
:hi:

1. Which is your absolutely favorite city? The Big Apple, of course... fell in love with it the very first time i visited (1989), and would love to actually LIVE there.

2. Which city/cities do you love visiting but wouldnt want to stay in? Washington DC, Atlanta, Miami, and L.A. I have been to all of them many, many times, and love going there, as long as i know i am going to be leaving...

3. If you had to relocate and move to a city, which city would you pick? Somewhere in the san Jose / San Francisco area eventually... poli-sci critter than i am would LOVE to eventually get into the grad program at Berkeley. Alternately, wherever Oktoberain decides for grad will be o.k.... i'm sure i can find a program at/close that i can continue my studies as well.

4. Do you consider yourself a city person? More a 'city girl' than anything else... I grew up in Charlotte NC, and watched it grow as i did (over 1 million in the metro area now!). Living in smaller communities since then took a great deal of adjustment.

1. Which is your absolutely favorite city?

Well, Manchester, because it's home. Besides that, Boston. Great ballpark, strong local music scene, fantastic museums.

2. Which city/cities do you love visiting but wouldnt want to stay in?

New Orleans. I lived there for three years. For a week or two, it's a lot of fun. Beyond that, it's like living in a poorly managed theme park.

3. If you had to relocate and move to a city, which city would you pick?

Seattle, for the weather (seriously; I like cool, drizzly weather); Baltimore, which I've always liked even though parts of it are a total dump.

4. Do you consider yourself a city person?

Yes. I lived in a small town (5,000) growing up, and I was bored silly.

51. 1. Boston
I know that sounds biased but I've been a lot of places and I can't escape the fact that Boston has a charm I don't find in others.

2. New York City, Washington DC, London, Chicago

3. I don't think I would ever move to another city given full choice. Well maybe if you will allow me to include Burlington, VT or Concord, NH but somehow I think you mean one of the big mega cities.

4. I enjoy the city and like living in an urban area as long as I can get out to the wilds from time to time (which is one reason Boston is so great) but I don't think I could really qualify as a 'city person'

52. Some city answers
1. Which is your absolutely favorite city? New York & Boston

2. Which city/cities do you love visiting but wouldnt want to stay in? Orlando - seems kind of spread out and not all that nice, except for the attractions.

3. If you had to relocate and move to a city, which city would you pick? Too many good choices (NYC, Boston, Shanghai, San Francisco, Nanjing, Honolulu) and too many places that are tempting, but I don't know enough about (like: Chicago, Toronto, Seattle, Portland, Dalian, Austin, the bigger cities in northern Europe, like Oslo, Stockholm & Helsinki)

4. Do you consider yourself a city person? I like the convenience and seeing new faces every day, but I don't consider myself a city person.
