I think it's going to be a long night,..
I'm beside myself with worry about my Daddy...No way I'm sleeping soon. I think I'll break out the knitting and see what's on cable after the Celts game is over. Sigh. I really do like sleep. I'm jittery and pacing. Meh.

Maybe tonight I will conquer double pointed needles...or, not.

1. Make yourself some tea
with a bit of honey. Your Dad will be fine. Will put you and Dad in my prayers.

3. Hey, knitting is a helluva lot better of a way to deal with stress than,
for example, drinking or ingesting some other types of drugs, yes?

Here's wishing for your Dad to get through whatever crisis he's facing tonight.

5. He's been in the hospital for 6 months battling a bug, like you...
He's finally clear, but going into a risky surgery that he needs. I'm scared. Sigh.

when we become adults, yes? Such is life. Yell for help / support when you need to; many are here for you.

7. Find a brainless movie to watch on cable...
See what's coming up on TCM or AMC.

And just veg out watching movies. And eat some comfort food. Got any chocolate ice cream? :9

When I was studying for my doctoral comps during the last week, I watched an awful lot of Animal Planet. I don't think any of the shows really sank in...but it was a good way to mildew when I knew that something terrible was coming.

I'm picking up Wilson's toys tonight...trying to pack up all the reminders. The most heartbreaking thing was when my son asked a second ago if I'd give him Wilson's dogtags so that he could put them in his treasure chest.

18. Your kid is a bit of alright, Maddy.
Regardless of what some think of me, I've got two dog collars (with tags) around my car's rearview mirror. Compassion, love and memory are good things. JMO.

19. Lemme tell ya...
He broke my heart today.

When we went to the vet to retrieve Wilson, the vet was telling us everything, and he apologized to us, said he was so sorry about it, and my son walked up to him, stuck a hand out to him, and the vet took his hand...and my son said, "Dr. M, I appreciate how hard you worked on Wilson. I appreciate everthing you did. I know you did all you could and I won't ever forget it."

The vet got big tears in his eyes as he listened to my son. I tell ya, this boy of mine, I love him more every day, even though it seems impossible to love someone this much. Sometimes I look at my kid and I wish I could be as genuinely good as him...one hell of a kid, he is.

Anyway, I'm hijacking BB's thread...but I want to say THANK YOU for this...it means a lot to me.

12. Bet you've got a good ear there to listen to your concerns.
Might be good to hash out some of your thoughts, get you to sleep. His treatment of the homeless and makeup challenged aside...
