my hands, wrists and feet that itch like crazy. There might be some mosquitos in the house, but I'm also finding these tiny gnats(?) that fly right through the screens.

3. Not bed bugs - my feet get bit because they are outside the bed covering in this
hot weather.

Maybe fleas. MaryJane the Bitey cat is going to get treated for fleas as soon as I can catch her. I doubt that it's fleas though, they generally prefer my husband.

be sure to wash all your bedding in hot soapy water, and maybe with bleach.
Fleas lay eggs at a tremendous rate.

To kill any on your mattress, go over your mattress with a hot dry iron, and if needed, use a dish or bath towel in between the iron and the mattress to avoid melting any fibers. (doesn't have to be high cotton setting on iron...just hot enough to pop the little buggers and their eggs)

Also, treat your carpeting. If you hate chemicals, shampoo, dry and vacuum thoroughly, then sprinkle borax powder to prevent eggs from hatching.

Clean your vaccuum thoroughly OUTSIDE away form grass and/or pet area. I have used Lysol in the wand, vac head and tubes to make sure any flees/eggs are killed...you may have been vacuuming these things up for a while already, and the eggs are so small, most vacuums will spit them out like so much dust while you are vacuuming.

4. In Minnesota
Bugs like that are either no-seeums sp? or sand flies. Usually the no-seeums pass through the screens

Maybe you could have fleas without pets, even.

10. If you were in Florida, I would say that you have "noseeums"
Also called biting midges. Tiny tiny gnat like things that can fly through most screens. Are you near water?

Definition: noseeums - Noseeums are nasty little bugs typically found near the ocean and around rivers, lakes, and swamps. Also known as biting midges, these tiny bugs can be as small as .04 inches long. It is the female that inflicts the nasty bite because she needs blood to complete her egg laying process. Consequently they go after any exposed skin, be it human or animal. A normal walk is fast enough to outrun these slow flying bugs, and a slight breeze is enough to cause them to lay down in the grass and not be a bother. On a still night noseeums can wreck havoc in the campground. Your best defense in this situation, beyond using Deet products, is to have a tent with noseeum netting.

11. There is a bedbug infestation in North America. Apparentely business travellors
are responsible for bringing bedbugs home from faraway lands. You have to clean everything in your bed and anything else you can wash. Vaccume everywhere. Ahhh look it up on the internet. They can give you better advice than me.

16. Whatever they are
I think they are newly hatched. They're so tiny. Probably some type of fly or something.

15. Whatever it is, I SWEAR by Diatomaceous Earth
...it's ground-up little sea fossils, sold in a fine powder in Nurseries. Last year, I had fleas and bought a bag. It's totally organic, no poisons to mess up your children, your pets or yourself. I did have to dust my mattress, then wrap a plastic sheeting around it. I also put plastic sheeting on my carpet, my other soft furniture, and I threw a bunch of it in my duvet cover and pillow cases.

It's really dusty. You gotta be able to tolerate it and not vacuum it up for a couple weeks. But boy--does it work!

You can also find an exterminator who used diatomaceous earth--a lot less work that way.

21. I'd say fleas mom, but it depends what the welts look like
they swelling up around the bite? those are mosquitoes- see if the big dog has found a new way in and out through one of the screens.

punkies and fleas just make tiny itchy spots.

it could also just be the heat exacerbating tiny bites that you otherwise wouldn't notice.
