1. We used to have a big patch of catnip growing in our backyard
and our black cat, cricket used to dive in and just tear the plant up. His eyes would dilate and he would start hissing if you got too close.

3. When I was growing it in the garden, I used to barricade it with several layers of
wire...My Mom's cats were ruthless! :o

7. After one season of growing
the plant comes back very strong and stout. If you get a stretch of warm weather in the winter you can get a couple of leaves.

2. Funny, I was going to start a thread about this.
We are growing catnip and I was wondering how you adminster, the 'nip'(to use the street vernacular). I've got syringes and a small pipe.

5. Mine get the dry kind often, but once in awhile I get the small live plant. One of mine...
....drags it around with him by picking it up by the plant part. I find it in the weirdest places.

This is the culprit:

But he looks more like this post-catnip:

8. My Monster loves catnip. He goes wild for it when I spread some dry on the floor. I should go
and give him some now if I can find it. I think it has been a years since I last gave him some that way. Thanks for reminding me.

9. I made a concentrated herb smoke once from extracted catnip, damiana and passion flower.
Got me pretty high...catnip makes a nice tobacco alternative, but it is a bit 'stemmy' for rolling. Better off with a pipe.

11. They do love their 'nip, don't they?

I'm trying to grow some in my garden, but when I've planted it before, the cats in the neighborhood eat it right to the ground.

12. I've tried to give my Kitteh catnip. She is just not interested.
However, she LOVES sweaty gym clothes! The scent makes her crazy and she rolls all over them, wraps herself up in them and attacks them. She also loves shoes--I'm assuming for the footy smell! What a big feline weirdo.

Good think she's soft and fuzzy and sweet-tempered purrs like an internal combustion engine--otherwise, she'd never stand a chance with that strange habit.

13. I gave Max catnip for the first time
...and he was high as a kite. In fact, he wanted more so badly he tore open the bag and helped himself to some more!
