Had a customer freakout like this many years ago, and that's what we did. I grabbed his upper body in a bear hug while another guy grabbed his legs and we took him down.

The dude threw a 17" CRT monitor into a woman's face (appears to have broken, or at least bloodied, her nose). The only way to get out of the room is past or through Mr. Freakout, so down he goes.

I spent some time in Japan and, while definitely more reserved than we gaijin, most of the people I met would seemingly help almost anyone, and I personally saw some of my friends intervene when an elderly woman was struck by a young man.
