Spell checker changes students' names in high school yearbook
'Max Zupanovic is now listed as "Max Supernova" and Kathy Carbaugh became "Kathy Airbag." And then there's Alessandra Ippolito who will have to explain to future generations why she was known as "Alexandria Impolite" in high school.'

8. The yearbook company offered to fix the errors
by issuing stickers that can be placed over the 'corrected' names. Yeah, like that's a good response to this fuck up. Someone should sue the bastards for gross incompetence.

10. At the very least, those affected students should get a free yearbook.

22. Free quite frankly isn't good enough.
Yearbooks are big business and the spokesperson's attitude was cavalier. At the very least they should print a correction insert and let the school distribute it and refund the fee paid by the affected kids. If I were faculty in charge of the yearbook ordering I'd be looking for another vendor.

We adults know that in the greater scheme of things they mean nothing, but I still remember how upset some kids in my high school were when there was an editing error in their accomplishments list, or when they looked bad in group shots.

True. Not like there's a dearth of yearbook companies.
TM's was $65 this year. :wow:

And, they won't get it until September so that they can have graduation coverage and coverage of spring sports.

12. We even had a fake student in our yearbook (1976)
named Mona Chester, complete with fake photo and fake bio. "Likes throbbing hot dogs..." etc. I'm surprised the teacher of the yearbook class allowed it.

14. Thats funny
we had nothing in our yearbook even remotely creative or funny. The advisers took all the fun out of it. Quite depressing actually. I do not even have a copy. And there was ad space in the back, full of advertising that was bought by local businesses. The whole thing was very sad.

24. I agree with jasonc
My high school was pretty humorless. Every year the junior class got to vote for their senior class slogan. My junior year the slogan was 'Never so great as 68.' Well, with the historic year of 1969 coming, there were whisper campaigns for the best slogan. I knew someone in the group that counted and tabulated the results. Number 1 was "Recline and dine in 69," and second was "Nothing could be finer than to be a sixty-niner." The principal gets up at the final assembly and announces the winner as "Never so fine as 69."

11. When I was in high school we had to make our OWN spelling mistakes - by HAND!!1
We didn't have any new fangled computatin' machines to do it for us.

True fact: The tickets for my 10th High School reunion in 1984 read: "Palm Springs High Scool Class of 1974" :dunce:

Me -->

13. All the mistakes in my yearbook are handwritten ones:
People commonly wrote things like "I will always rember you" and someone got "You are a very nice gril."

20. More proof that a human brain will never be superceded by a computer.
"Yearbook Designer" was probably revised as "Youra Douchebag" too...

Uh-oh. I just devolved by saying an uncouth derogatory pop-culture word. x(
