Then our nuisance value to others can survive our demise almost indefinitely.

26. Well, it's not pointless while we're alive, but I agree that nothing happens
after death. Nonexistance doesn't bother me though. I didn't mind not existing before I was born, I won't mind not existing when I'm dead.

Reincarnation seems to work for the Dalai Lama, but I'm not so sure the rest of us will ever get a replay. If we do, I have dibs on coming back as a French poodle.

But then I probably didn't believe in reincarnation in any of my previous lives either. Woof.

38. I think it would be a great life
Eat, sleep, chase frisbees and get pedicures. They're also reputed to be very smart dogs, and I've never met a poodle that didn't have a great sense of humor - they have to have one to put up with those silly pompoms. Most Buddhists consider a four-footed incarnation a come-down, but I think it could be a lot of fun.

Beats how most people have to live on this planet.

20. The long dirt nap
You will cease to exist but you will have no knowledge of your nonexistence, just like before you were even conceived.

Thus that which is the most awful of evils, death, is nothing to us, since when we exist there is no death, and when there is death we do not exist. ~Epicurus

30. You could become a coral reef or a diamond.
http://www.eternalreefs.com/about/about.html

"Until the funeral director put his remains in my hands, I had forgotten about this casual conversation we had over dinner," says Don Brawley. Don quickly set to work mixing the remains into the reef ball concrete to add to a placement they had planned in Sarasota, Florida. On May 1, 1998 a reef of ten Nautilus & twenty Aquarius Memorial reefs were cast. The reefs were soon placed to create a beautiful natural memorial setting. Carleton got his wish, and his reef is now teaming with sea life. Eternal Reefs was born.

http://www.lifegem.com/

The LifeGem® is a certified, high-quality diamond created from the
carbon of your loved one as a memorial to their unique life, or as a symbol of your personal and precious bond with another.

LifeGem diamonds are molecularly identical to natural diamonds found at any high-end jeweler. To qualify as diamonds, they must have the exact same brilliance, fire, and hardness (the hardest substance known) as diamonds from the earth, and of course, they do!

What that other form of consciousness becomes nobody can truly know - it could be a higher plane of enlightenment, some form of reincarnation, or we could all just become ghosts.

I'm in no hurry to find out, of course...

52. If the universe is infinite...e.g., infinite time and infinite space then
you will exist again somewhere in time and in some place (and even eventually in a world EXACTLY like this one where you do exactly the same thing again.

Infinity is a nearly impossible (maybe indeed impossible) concept to put your humble brain around but infinity essentially leads to the absolutely inescapable conclusion that there will be an infinity of everything. Thus although your consciousness will most likely cease to exist (it is truly amazing how few believe in life after death the further up the educational ladder one goes)it is also assured, assuming an infinite universe, that you will exist again somewhere and be conscious.

Scientists have been desiring to turn the universe into an infinite place because it allows them to extinguish the mythological patriarchal gods (although I don't think they publicly acknowledge or perhaps not even consciously realize this (it is total bullshit to pretend that science has not infringed upon and been swallowing alive the mythological world-space for some time--and will undoubtedly continue to do so)). Infinity of the universe extinguishes the need for a creator while still giving hope for something much better some other time/place.
