YouTube: Journey, with the new guy (Arnel Pineda), performs "Faithfully" on The Ellen Degeneres Show

He can hit the Steve Perry notes, but for my money, Steve Augeri (the former singer) sounded like he was cloned directly from Perry. Pineda sounds like a guy from a Journey cover band (which is eactly what he was, when Neal Schon discovered him on YouTube).

The "new" album (1 CD of new songs, 1 CD of "re-recorded greatest hits," 1 live CD) comes out tomorrow...just like The Eagles' "Long Road Out Of Eden," it's a "Wal-Mart Exclusive."

1. The guy is pretty incredible and after a few real shows should mature

2. He claimed to have a number of ongoing medical issues...

...and the band told him "we're not waiting for you." In fairness to the band, he said that he "might" be back, "if and when" he felt better, so he wasn't exactly meeting them half way.

That's the short version. VH-1 had a special on this. It was quite sad, actually. Perry felt betrayed. The rest of the band said "We're working musicians and we need to work."

Of course, it's like the David Lee Roth-Van Halen reuinion. Someday somebody is going to dangle a carrot so HUGE in front of both Perry and the other band members that a "Classic Journey Stadium Reunion Tour" is INEVITABLE.
