9. Are we basing that on the preview?
It looks to me like an obvious bait-and-switch teaser of a preview, wherein the splice two unconnected moments to create the illusion of a continuous scene.

I guess we'll see in a few days.

They realized this season was going a bit slow and viewership was dropping, so they dropped a bomb in hopes of getting people back into it.

12. I agree that it's a bait & switch
as I mentioned in my other thread, I believe Anders & Tyrol may be on the baseship, so it could very well be one of those two revealed.

Tigh & Torey are with the fleet.

Would be interesting if Lee Adama is the final cylon, because then Tigh & Adama would be now leading the fleet at cylons.

They wouldn't give that away in a teaser. There's something about his singing that's giving me that impression and that I'm taking as a hint that it's him.

21. Something About His Singing
Edited on Mon Jun-02-08 08:38 PM by Beetwasher
Also consider his role on New Caprica. I think the final Cylon(s) have a completely different agenda. I think it's going to be someone completely unexpected and he fits that role and he's always been right there in the heart of the mix throughout, always near all the big power brokers.

27. Dang! You know what, I think you nailed it. I didn't even catch that. The Final Four of the Final
Five all heard the music when they first found out what they were, and I remember one of them talking about hearing the music or something to that effect. I'll have to keep my eye on Gaeta now.

35. Hmm...(My thoughts and an alternate theory)
I don't think so though. I expect it's going to be someone strange...perhaps someone shown before and given depth, but never really utilized. It could function as a way of introducing a new major character or making a major character out of a minor one.

Perhaps the lawyer who defended Baltar with Lee, Romo Lampkin...he has a bio page on the Battlestar Galactica page on the Sci-Fi channel website; strange for a character who hasn't been in an episode all year and has had appearances in only 3 episodes of the show. (There are members of Baltar's groupie entourage with more screen time and no website bio.) He has no background that we know of outside of what he himself has said...and he has said he studied and worked under Joseph Adama. Based on ages...that's an issue. He can't be much older than Lee, fifteen years at most. (So...mid to late 40s) Lee IIRC never met Joseph who died many years before he was born.

As for Gaeta: Not that they've done any real depth on cylon biology and anatomy (so it could be exactly the same except the brain) but I think they'd have found proof of some sort when they lopped off his leg. Also, he was clearly in shock when he was waiting for the jump back to Galactica; there has been little (none that I can recall) precedent of illness, infection or disease seen among cylons.

28. Me too!
I didn't think that Cylons could reproduce together, so how could Tigh be the father of the baby? I think the Six is sleeping with someone else too, perhaps one of the guards (or Baltar?). I also think that when confronted by Adama, Tigh let him think that he was the father of the baby to keep Adama from suspecting that he's a Cylon.

Those are just my thoughts. :)

How ya doin, DuStrange? :hi:

36. It could indicate
that the final 5 are a different kind of cylon--maybe the fact that the other cylons can't reproduce with each other is part of the plan. They need the final five to complete the next step in their evolution. And remember, the 4 in the fleet made their own conclusion that they are cylons. There has been no outside confirmation of it.

It also puts 2 characters back on the table as possibilities for the final cylon--Helo and Cally.

37. That's a very good point.
I hadn't considered that. I had always thought that Helo was definitely a human based on his impregnating Athena...now you have me wondering...

Although I'm not sure about the lack of outside confirmation of the four Cylons in the fleet. When that raider scanned Anders and his eyes flashed red, the raider (and the others) refused to attack the fleet. I'm not sure if that is confirmation or circumstantial evidence, but I did think that was interesting. Hopefully, D'Anna's return will put that issue to rest.

25. OK, I offer an alternative to what you're thinking.
I saw that in the preview for next week's episode, but I don't think Roslin is the final Cylon. It's possible, but I personally don't want to believe it. Consider this:

Here's what we know:
1. D'Anna knows who the final five are.
2. Editing can be used in a way to draw the audience to a conclusion that may or may not be true.

Here's what we don't know:
1. When D'Anna said "what you don't know is that you're one of them," whether or not she was talking directly to Roslin (D'Anna made that statement, cut, camera pans in on Roslin's face).

Instead of D'Anna telling Roslin that she's one of the final five (and really, why would they reveal that in an episode preview so early in the season?), I think one of the following things happened:
1. D'Anna may have been talking to Roslin, but may have told her she's one of the final five just to manipulate her for some unknown reason. We have no reason to believe that D'Anna was sincere when making that statement.
2. D'Anna may have been talking to a third person in the room, and the camera just panned in on Roslin's reaction. Aren't Tyrol and Anders on the ship with Roslin? D'Anna may have been talking to one of them.
3. That whole scene could have been part of one of Roslin's Kamala-induced visions. There's no way to know that it really happened.

So calm down and wait until Friday. The BSG creators are experts at teasing us to keep us tuned in, so I'm sure you will be surprised. :)

I'm just excited as hell that D'Anna is back!!!

:bounce:

38. Also Don't Know That "One Of Them" Means one of the final five
That could have been completing the sentence "There's only a few humans we need to complete our mission...What you don't know..." or something like that.

4/6/08: According to Ron Moore, the reveal of the final Cylon "will be late in the season, it won't be in the first half." From dwscifi.com Interview

Interview with Lucy Lawless:

HuffPo: Thanks for taking the time to do this.

Lucy Lawless: I hope it's worth it for you.

HP: Meaning you can't really talk about what happens this season?

LL: No, more like I can't really remember.

HP: So your arc was completely finished before the writers' strike?

LL: Yes. I finished right before the strike, and the rest of the cast and crew are back in production right now.

It is my understanding that the first 10 episodes were finished before the strike. The season is set to break at ep 10.
