I do not know how well corroborated this story is, but...

Here in the Minneapolis/St Paul metro area we have to look to our Alt-Weekly for good reporting thanks to the lack of initiative on behalf of the two "major" newspapers.

With that all said, here is the link and an excerpt.

http://articles.citypages.com/2008-05-21/news/moles-wanted/

Carroll, who requested that his real name not be used, showed up early and waited anxiously for Swanson’s arrival. Ten minutes later, he says, a casually dressed Swanson showed up, flanked by a woman whom he introduced as FBI Special Agent Maureen E. Mazzola. For the next 20 minutes, Mazzola would do most of the talking.

“She told me that I had the perfect ‘look,’” recalls Carroll. “And that I had the perfect personality—they kept saying I was friendly and personable—for what they were looking for.”

What they were looking for, Carroll says, was an informant—someone to show up at “vegan potlucks” throughout the Twin Cities and rub shoulders with RNC protestors, schmoozing his way into their inner circles, then reporting back to the FBI’s Joint Terrorism Task Force, a partnership between multiple federal agencies and state and local law enforcement. The effort’s primary mission, according to the Minneapolis division’s website, is to “investigate terrorist acts carried out by groups or organizations which fall within the definition of terrorist groups as set forth in the current United States Attorney General Guidelines.”

If I knew how I would do much more investigating of this on my own. I hope others in the area do as well. If this is happening, I think every American should know about it.

edit: I put the words in bold, not the newspaper.

1. Terrorist vegan potluck cells in Minneapolis?
It would be fun to infiltrate the infiltrators, but I don't like vegan "meatloaf."

Seriesly, though, that's some sick shit. The government thinks that because you're a vegan you might be affiliated with terrorists? Enough to make your head explode.

we should have a vegan potluck at our next get together!!!!!1

That will show them.

I mean, look at the talent we have in our group alone.

You are the pilot, I can jump out of the plane and engage in combat, temeah can make the t-shirts. Lydia Leftcoast can confuse them all by speaking in Japanese, and DFL Princess can further confuse them by laughing at all our horrible jokes...

and of course we are ALL smarter than they are by a very large margin, they are scared of us just for that...

OMG we are a terraist cell... (spelled incorrectly on PURPOSE)

5. But do we have any vegans
who know how to make faux meatloaf? We wouldn't be convincing without it.

18. Hmm, I know how to make a number of things with tofu...
and people could bring hummus and baba ghannouj (ooh, Middle Eastern food! Are you reading this, Agent Mike?) and veggie chili...

but seriously, Evergreen has a lot of vegan options.

Too bad Mysore Cafe (vegetarian/vegan Indian restaurant in Uptown) closed down.

11. Invite the FBI and the local cops to your protest planning!
Edited on Mon May-26-08 02:45 PM by loveable liberal
I posted this idea last year. Invite them and see what they do. I dont believe in violent protest, I think violent protest is idiotic. But peaceful civil disobediance is where its at. All these protests will be fantastic and if people would invite the cops and the FBI to their planning meetings, not to help plan, but to inform mind you, we could completely avoid anything that remotely looks like violence and make our point at the same time.

edit:dang spelling

13. I've been saying we have to
kill flvegan or turn him in to the FBI! But has anyone listened? He's going to destroy our country! Have you people no patriotism! Vegans must be put in prison. I'm pretty sure 9/11 was really caused by those vegans! They hate America!

22. they are so lame

I remember their first fake protestors back in 2001, especially at the big protests in DC. They were so obvious that we real protestors actually stood around pointing and laughing at them. They had them dressed up like hippies of the 70s. What's worse, one could often see their earpiece and in one case, we even saw a fake protestor hiding behind his sign, issuing a report about what was going on.

One sure tip-off is that their signs lack originality and have little effort put into them.

I took photographs of some of these fake protestors and if I ever find them again, I'm going to post them here.
