I ask this only half in jest -- is calling someone a "dickhead" sexist?

1. I don't think so. My knee jerk thought was that any insult based on a

sex- or gender-specific body part or trait must be sexist. On second thought, however, I think it's only sexist when the meaning behind the insult refers to a sexist or homophobic stereotype (e.g. bitch, pussy, cocksucker). Insults based on male genitalia alone (dick, cock, prick) seem more in the schoolyard category of being based merely on 'dirty' bodily functions (like shithead or asshole). So, my conclusion is no - go ahed and call 'em like you see 'em...

but, it's not really high on my priority list of issues.

I do try to use non-sexist terms whenever possible, though: i.e., somebody that is brave doesn't have "balls" to me, they have "guts" or "backbone" or "a spine" and I don't think I've ever called a woman a "bitch" (though, I've known several woman that have called themselves "bitch")

5. Here's a real DICK head

The dude's name is Karunakaran and his political party is called Democratic Indira Congress (Karunakaran) and South Indian newspapers often have headlines like "DICK head resigns after election loss". I crack up when I see his campaign signs. I don't know anything about the political views other than that the umbrella coalition of UDF(United Democratic Front) is very liberal, but DICK is an unfortunate name for a political party.

6. Why would a guy be offended I, for one, love my dick and

besides, if I don't allow women to express their strong emotions. How can I, as a man, expect them to put up with mine. So, if people think its innappropriate - do it. People need to develop a sense of humor.
